Great video mate! St James is quite the classic station, it and Museum have to be some of my favourites. New NIF D set profile picture is looking awesome!
Thanks for the rundown on trains through St James. I would love a similar run from Museum Station with all its grandeur. Also curious about old disused tunnels and if there are any plans to reuse them for some purpose?
@@Woodland26 I am glad you mentioned that because I can remember quite clearly the 2 unused platforms prior to them being covered. I have been told that they were used for terminating trains prior to the completion of the city circle but that has always been disputed.
@@aussiejohn5835 digging back the history of the station construction, there was 4 arches the middle 2 being proposed for the eastern/western railway that never was. Train driver point of view video often point out the lock up tunnels as they go towards Circular Quay. Those tunnels was used during war time. Some tunnel work toward Town Hall was done when they were doing the station but never used. As for terminating trains it makes sense to do so. There was definitely tracks in the middle platforms when I looked at it in the 80s, but never seen any trains on it of course.
@@Woodland26 Again I thank you because I remember the tracks as well and I have a vague memory of seeing a train on one of them but that was in the late 50's and I was very young so it may not be a very reliable memory.
