I once got my elbow stuck in the window of an old red-rattler. I started to panic as my station was coming up. Finally worked it out by straightening my arm. Lesson learned.
Hi Phil, great seeing more train scenes on the Bankstown line, especially the heritage trains. Love the F1 Red Set, which brings back fond memories of my days back in the 1960s riding those trains along the line. I had both relatives and friends living at Lakemba back in those days. Seeing a steam train on the Bankstown is quite unique. Glad you included Marrickville on this video, which was actually my old stomping ground back before moving in mid 1981. I remember seeing Parcel Van trains using that goods line at Marrickville back in the 1960s and 1970s. I must admit, seeing a steam train pass through Marrickville is definitely a first for me. Very interesting indeed. Anyway, wishing you the very best. Rob in Melbourne Australia.
I saw so many photographers taking pictures of the heritage train when I was there at lakemba also at Bankstown when many people were getting onboard to take that heritage train
I actually went to central on Saturday and I saw the Steam train at central I was there to get to go to Circular quay and when I came back to Central to get a V set to parramatta I saw the Red Rattler next to an Oscar it was so cool!
On Saturday 14/9 I caught from Central to Marrickville for the first and last time. Took a brisk walk up the street, but not eating time so did not sit down. There were 2 long lines, one for the Vietnamese pork rolls and one for tea drinks. It was a pity the Marrickville Metro is a long way from the station. I then caught the train back to Erskineville to have another walk locally.
Hi Phil. Great coverage of this heritage Bankstown line weekend. Noticed quite a few other like-minded train enthusiasts at the various stations where you filmed. A quick question: how do you know in advance the movement of freight trains - when and where they are going to be?
@@njz1 no but how do you guys get the notifs for events regarding trains and transport, not just heritage trains. Like Phil knows what trains are passing through each day.
It looked like a great day for the heritage trains weekend are you going to be doing a farewell video of the Bankstown Line on the last day being Sunday 29th September and the closure on 30th of September
Ah, a red rattler on the Bankstown via Regents Park … how typical, my least favourite service as a kid on the inner west line … except this time it's not "all stations" haha
@@dulcinealee3933 The silver set that was meant to run as part of the Bankstown heritage trains on the 14th September 2024 (the date of the video) I'm referring to 0:31 time in the video.
