We love going to Nevada. I would love to go exploring old ghost towns and mining operations. Thank you for telling the location so I may be able to explore some day. I realize many people don't want to reveal locations because of vandalism. But it helps people like me that not been out much find new places. Thanks again.
I noticed all the Hills Brothers coffee cans everywhere. I have seen these 1lb. cans in every bottle and can dump in the Sierras and desert areas. I put ore samples in mine and note where it came from and the date. Thank you for all your exciting mining site visits and informative history.
That is great country to explore I have been there many times, it was on my uncle’s grazing allotment that he owned from 78 until 01. We lived at Lida.
You weave a wonderful interpretive historical journey through some very interesting areas. Thanks for putting this all together, truly fascinating stuff.
Have never understood pure vandalism . It’s great to find old structures & camps that haven’t been just destroyed by mindless people for no other reason than destruction. Leave these time capsules alone for others to enjoy & be respectful. That once was something someone was proud of & was their “ Hopes & dreams “ . Anyway great vid as usual . Even the comments on the stench in that one building … 😉
Good afternoon from Germany, yes Sir, you are on the right way, and your channel is growing.Your vlog is great staged with great pictures and interesting stories. Have a nice weekend and a good hunt for new, amazing locations.Sad is only that all over the world are people who have the hobby to vandalise without any consideration.
Few years ago, some metal thieves drove up to the mill and stole a bunch of stuff inside, even broke open the wall to get the stuff out. I believe they were caught . The owner currently resides in Gold Point.
As you mentioned others have been there and went into the mines. One thing I noticed is not one person films every thing they see so chances are even though you may go into the mines you will film things others may have not. For example W. H. may run across the Sylvania but will not film much there unless there is a hot spring in the area ;-) thanks for your hard work & Regards from Ody Slim
Well done dude. There is couple of channels that always act like they were the first to discover a camp or mine. They just took a dirt road and wow look what they discovered, really gets old.
Thanks for this video. I’ve love finding new, old abandoned vehicles. Those two trucks are going to be mine. I will restore them. I will sell them. Thanks for this video. More money in my pocket.
This was a very interesting & informative exploration, as usual Thank you for documenting and posting before thieves and vandals further destroy the site. I hope you got some rest after sharing this.
Thanks for another great video, I for one really like looking at old mining equipment. I wish you would go ahead and make a video of that mine shaft. I would also like to see the machine shop you pointed out. I grew up around mines and mining equipment in the 1950's and 1960's and as a retired machinist I would enjoy looking at any old machine tools you come across. Again thank you for showing us all of those neat places that I can no longer get to.
So many neat place to visit in Nevada, however, like many people, it is disappointing to see people vandalize and steal "souvenirs" just to be malicious. Great video.
Without giving GPS locations I have been able to find places you've been to, when you point out mountain peeks or other pints of interest . One such place was in your copper mine video, found the mine on google earth.
Just found your vids, Thanks for sharing, I visited there some 50 years ago (yea I'm old lol) with our dad, we were not allowed to remove any artifacts back then. My dad spoke about mining history and then the condition was amazingly most intact and organized. Also the rooms were un damaged for the most part and offered shelter if needed so the scattered trash & bullet holed you see was done by asshats. Plus as you say there was a whole fleet of vehicles as I remember maybe 15-20ish... Cheers from Alaska
You should ALWAYS assume no one follows other RU-vidrs who have made this location public. I've never heard of this place and I don't follow anyone who has mentioned the name of this place. No need to mention here. Just an FYI and thought? :) Thanks for the vid!
Wonderful to watch, as always ! I felt sure that I'd seen the mine before, 'Wonderhussy' and 'Eminence FrontX5' had a wander there about 4yrs ago..just the mine though.
I appreciate your videos. Loved roaming around the So. Cal hills when I was a kids. Your videos bring back great memories. Discovered your channel by chance. Maybe you can do some exploring in Mojave. They allowed claims there in the 50s. My dad had one but never followed up. Keep up the great work!
Good for you! I Strongly dislike "trolls" or better known as internet bullies. Those folks are just sad little closed minded dogs that most likely live there lives in there mommies basements! 😂 Love the stories that you collect for the different places you explore.
I do like getting your perspective on the mines that you do explore. I DON'T want you to go into a mine that is to dangerous. I also respect your opinion on not wanting to video a mine that you think someone else did a great video.
I have been to the area many times for a long time. I know those hills pretty good... and there is still a lot of gold in those hills.... nice video.. I remember more vehicles being there also. I would have loved to see that in operating condition back in the days... That area has a lot of history, to include Jack Longstreet, whom you say Andrew Jackson Longstreet, and even Wyatt Earp was once in the area during the heyday. The Medicine Rock is also nearby, a famous native American meeting site. The Shoshone tribe used Lida as a camp for a long time before miners. The spanish mined the area before the 1849 gold rush to California. A lot of history around there. There was even a site the Shoshone would go to, to get away from the U.S. Cavalry in the 1800's, as the Cavalry would not only run the Indians out, but take their women. Years ago, I found under one of the old cabins a Nascar poster from the 1950's still in great condition.
Yes I've been watching your show RU-vid channel for a long time and I appreciate everything you're done for these mines and everything but I have one question it might be a dumb question but I don't know how to ask it but here I go how did anybody know where to start digging for what they want to go after gold silver anything else how do they know just by walking around how do they know where to start I thank you if you could respond to me but keep doing the good job you're doing I appreciate it myself God bless and be safe
my understanding, they would look for quartz, iron ore-red rocks, dirt. there is a lot of different minerals gold joins with. so it could have been a # of things. including, luck, word of mouth. Jeff Williams has a great channel on gold.
Can't blame people for sharing the location when the title of the video contains the name of the place. It took 5 seconds on Google to find the place. Vandalism is still wrong though. Nobody should do that.
You people go out here and see all these places and these things and go ooh wow, I see these places and these cabins in the sheds and I think I want to go out there and take naps in them.
I'm a long time off roader and get out to the Utah's west desert. Amazing the amount of vandalism that occurred since the 1980s, especially in the Newfoundland Mountain range and Golden Spike (old rail line) country. The Bureau of Land Management has blasted most of the old mines to keep people out. I'm not sure what's going on with our civilization. I'll take a "city slicker" camping every now and then. At night they want to make bon fires and make noise, never can just sit quiet enjoy the stars. They have to play MTV stars or some such goofiness,
super cool vid sir - there is just so much stuff out there, had no idea so much was just abandoned like that. I do quite a bit of traditional hiking and too get frustrated at the vandalism/crime at sites. A bit I think is just stupid kids being stupid kids, but a majority just seems to be folks that have a need to be bad/greedy/selfcentered individuals.
Thanks D.T. for recording the trucks at the beginning and great video as always. The Trucks are 1940, 1 1/2 ton Dodge VF-404 Military 4X4's and are quite rare. I hate to admit it, but if I was in that area, I would rescue them just to get them out of where they are because the ones who don't know and who are disrespectful vandals, will shoot them full of holes. Here is a video of one I was considering on saving 3 weeks ago. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0JPIbbAlQtQ.html.
The two legged varmints have always been much much worse than the four legged varmints. Just look at the pollution on the land and sea with no end in sight.
I find this so interesting. I just wish you would pan the camera much slower. It cannot focus as fast as your eye can. You can look over a room in half a second but all we see is a blur until you actually stop to look at something. More than once I wanted to look at something so I stop the video but all I see is a blur.
“Gly”: Early RU-vid abandoned mine explorers were quite irresponsible when it came to revealing names and locations. When I documented this site back in Episode 64 I changed the name slightly so it couldn’t be Google searched. Unfortunately, there’s still some selfie-stick hero’s running around on RU-vid without the same principles.
@@rogersmith7396 I was referring to the original town from 1880s wasn't sure if they had any. Doubt those poles were around in the 1880s when that place was established. I comment as I watch and I did see the poles and electrical boxes later on in the video.
PLEASE for the viewers pleasure, slow the movement of the camera down. Pan left and right SLOWLY , shots with a lot of content stop and hold the shot for 5 sec. so the viewer can pause the shot so WE can see what there. YOU COMPLETELY FAILED IN THIS DOCUMENTARY. MANILY BECAUSE YOU EDITED, APPROVED AND POSTED THIS VIDEO. I PERSONALLY CAN'T WATCH THIS BLURRED, NO DOCUMENTARY CONTENT POS. .
Why do you feel the need to point at everything, if you point your camera at what you want me to see, let me look around without ruining it with your hand and fingers. Do sports broadcasters point at the baseball being hit, i mean its so small, of course not, they don't throw their hand into view, the camera follows the ball.
