I agree, but I don’t think they dislike it, they just don’t think it’s as good as others. I sort of understand, in a sense that if you are a casual fan, a lot of it blends in with part 1 in their memories. Since I’m not a casual fan, I know how good it is, how much it lifts the story of Rocky and almost completes it. You can have the series end almost at 2… but thankfully he didn’t let go.

2 and 3 are tied my favs

Hey, I 💯% agree… it just needs part 1 since that’s when the characters were established.

It actually made me cry when he runs up the steps with the crowd of children.

If you ever find it, the “WorkPrint” of Rocky 5 is really good but would have ruined Rocky Balboa (6).

Why so low for Rocky 5? I have the “Work Print” or Directors Cut of 5. I have tried uploading it but RU-vid blocks it. I have however, the scenes that RU-vid does not recognize as Rocky 5 that are part of the Directors Cut. Would you be interested in seeing it?

@@RealHectorCanales Rocky has V has some good moments and ideas but also a lot of boring moments and bad execution that drags it down to a 5/10 and yeah I would like to see it

@dylanshort1661 yeah, I think you would love the directors cut (WorkPrint). It does take many slow turns but it’s to tell the story, to help you understand what Rocky is going through with the “brain damage.”

Absolutely! I totally agree. The more I watch it, the more I understand it and appreciate it. It’s not a perfect movie but it’s definitely not a “0”

@@RealHectorCanales It honestly should be Rocky 4.5 instead of Rocky 5. It shows the aftermath of Rocky battling with PTSD with the reverting back to his Rocky 1 and 2 persona. He clings to Tommy because he's missing Apollo. And his family suffers because Rocky doesn't feel they understand and he kind of copes with training Tommy instead of parenting Robert.

I would have agreed with this ranking a few years ago but the older I get, the more I like Rocky 5.

@@RealHectorCanales Rocky V being right next to Rocky Balboa, a movie which executes many of its themes and concepts so much more powerfully is not doing it any favors, it must be said.

But as a someone who for almost 20 years struggled to make it as a professional wrestler, now settling down away from wrestling, with all the injuries I picked up along the way (including head injuries), and having to deal with trying to reconnect with a teenage daughter… 5 just speaks to me a little more during this time. Rocky Balboa (the movie) is incredible and a far better movie, but I’m just saying, at this moment in my life, I can relate to 5 a lot more than when I first watched it.

@@RealHectorCanales I can respect that. Truthfully, it's given me a new way to think about the movie, and I'll keep it in mind. Maybe I'll appreciate it more when I see it next.

@@RealHectorCanales same here man. Michael B Jordan have a tremendous effort and we’re nice films. Though we are all there just for Rocky still. Absolutely love the 6 Rocky films, grew up watching them and the Rambo movies all absolutely class don’t understand how anyone can’t enjoy them! Lock up, demolition man and cliffhanger too! Stallone is one of the greats👍

@polar9984 just watched Demolition Man a few days ago. Under rated film. Even though they got a lot of the future stuff wrong, it aged just fine.

lol! Try watching 5 sometime, it’s not as bad as you might remember. Oh, I found the Work Print for 5, which is vastly different. Thinking of uploading. I wonder if anyone would be interested?

@@RealHectorCanales Could be interesting. One vote for uploading the work print. I don't know. Watching 5 is like watching Karate Kid 3. It's like watching your best friend be a jerk until the end fight(s).

I know I’m not the guy you asked but I think 2 is almost as good as the first. Mostly because of the struggle he goes through. Part one set up the characters for us. We know them. Part 2 is all story, all drama, you are already invested in the characters not you are just rooting for them to make it. They go through real life struggles that we ALL go through and then to see him win the championship… as a viewer you feel like a winner yourself. I can’t help but shed a tear every time I see him running up those steps with all the kids behind him.

@@RealHectorCanales Yes, I think so. 5 was definitely one of the weaker films, but 1 wasn’t much (if any) better. The fight scene in 1 wasn’t very long. They skipped most of the rounds without even any action shown from them. In 2, 4, and 6 we had much longer montages with more action from the missed rounds. The Rocky fight time in 5 is probably longer than the Rocky fight time in 1. Also, Rocky lost in the first fight. I know that it’s part of the story and that we needed him to lose to set up 2, but Rocky still lost, so it feels weaker to me. At least Rocky won the street fight in 5.

@shikamondes4068 you understand, it’s not a boxing movie. The series is not a boxing series. The protagonist just happens to be a boxer. The story is not within the boxing fights but within the characters.
