I had the SYM JET-X 125cc for 1 year and here are my thoughts: PROS: 1. The best overall design of this small category 2. The most powerful engine of this category 3. Very well built 4. Super low consumption, less that 3lt/100km 5. Very easy to handle in traffic. Wil squeeze everywhere 6. It will get you safely and easily up to 80km/hr, but after that it will start struggling, which is normal for a small scooter. Specially if you got a passenger on board 7. The storage space is acceptable but you will need additional space for sure 8. The suspensions are average 9. Instruments and buttons are simple and easy to use CONS: 1. A mediocre braking system. Won't save you from anything. Try to brake early. 2. You cannot see anything in the mirrors. Very small and poorly positioned 3. The key is not exactly keyless. You have to press it every time to turn on the motorcycle. You simply don;t have to plug it in. Thats all OVERALL: Probably the best 125cc out there. I clearly recommend it !
Very pleased with mine. Very manoeuvrable and getting well over 100mpg (mainly rural). Annoying alarm (since disabled), good looks and reliable - so far. Agree with everything in the review - who needs ‘Honda’ prices - so much fun for less!
@@ozanbydr i had a test ride with ine of these yesterday. it beeps all the time. When you start it when you turn it off when you move it as alarm. i stopped like 3 times to make pictures and see things and it already got on my nerves. So if someone can tell me how to turn that off i do that as first. this aside it feels pretty nice to ride
@@JuniorSantiago The price difference with a pcx is kinda huge in where i am from so i am gonna have to bear with that 😅.What could you tell about the scooter aside from that though? is it good ?
Here in Turkey, the Jet X 2023 model comes Standard with TCS & ABS, we have the choice of 2 colours, Grey and Matt Blue, i was going to purchase the PCX 125 which i previously add back in the UK, after seeing positive reviews and the styling is bang on ❤, i will be purchasing the Jet in the next few weeks, Thanks for a great Video👍🏻
The Honda PCX beats it hands down in the following: ABS front braking, much more under seat storage, way better fuel consumption, much longer range, better wheels and tires, higher residual value, better quality build, better spec. The Jet x would be desirable if the new price was well under £3000. At its current price you'd lose value very quickly compared to the PCX. The other big problem is that both the Jet x and the Jet LC have electrical problems - with numerous reports of indicators failing in wet weather. Shame as in other respects it looks good.
Jet X also has ABS, but depends on the market you are in. PCX under seat storage also only fits an open face helmet not a full-face. PCX has an extra sliver of space in the back where the Jet X has the fuel tank. Way better fuel consumption than 2.3-2.5L/100km (real world consumption I get on average country/city riding)? I highly doubt it, user consumption monitors show an average of 2.3L/100km, which is less than 10% difference and easily within user variance. Better tires for sure, the Jet X uses crap Taiwanese CST tires that are terrible in the wet. Better build quality probably too, Jet X has electronics problems: insulation of connectors and plugs against water ingress is insufficient and causes corrosion and follow-on issues like blinkers not working anymore. Draining the battery (which happens quickly due to the alarm) can cause the starter relay/solenoid to fail closed (i.e. constantly starting). Replacing or even disconnecting or jump starting the battery is a pain in the ass since it is buried in the footwell with stupidly designed covers on top. The Jet X clearly has the better "spec" though - more power, better fuel economy, alarm and "keyless" start. Residual for sure too, everyone knows the PCX and I haven't seen another Jet X on the road in almost 3 years. I've already written it off by now. In retrospect I would have gone for an Nmax...
Had this model for 8 months now ride’s awesome.Only negative the mirrors are to small no big deal.Rode scooters for 3 decades like this bike the most really smooth to ride.
Very happy with mine I commute about 100 miles a week mostly country roads at speed so your fuel economy figures are pretty accurate after my 100 miles my scooter is showing 1 mark above red on the fuel gauge. I've done 3500 miles in almost all weathers and it's been great fun and dependable almost time for its second service at 4k miles
Did a longer ride once, 1 mark over red, then had to keep going because no petrol station was open on Sunday. Went into reserve, starting flashing the idiot light at me. After 45km on reserve, I finally found a station and filled up 4.5L. Out of an ~8.5L tank. WTF
Very nice scooter. SYM makes a lot of really nice scooters, unfortunately we only get a few models here in the US and SYM dealerships are practically non-existent in the area where I live. I guess that's understandable since almost nobody in this country rides scooters, outside of some big cities.
Bought one 6months ago after having my Yamaha stolen, nice bike .Had something weird happen a few weeks ago,it rained hard on my way home from work one day covered the bike up at home, got back on the next day and found that the indicators stopped working when i braked, when i let go of the brake they worked, kinda made my journey hell, when i returned to the bike at the end of my shift everything was back to normal, and has been, though really happy with my matt black jet x
We had the cut all the plugs out as they were corroded after 12mths & bike had only been out in the wet a couple of times.Once we did that it's been no bother
I get around 2.3-2.5L/100km economy on mine. Also, the speedo is way off on mine, just over 14% so 100kph is 114/115 indicated, so I did my economy figures based on GPS track on longer rides
About to find out. Get mine tomorrow. My first vehicle. (I’ve used a Honda vision 110 for a year before that as a wheel to work loanbike) so exited. Nervous rider. Saw it in the shop in grey and it was love at first sight 😂
@@Shaunsm Oddly enough yes! Trying to get it fitted in a garage but my bike has developed a few electrical issues. On a wet day my indicators stop working when I apply the breaks and THIS AFTERNOON my dashboard has stopped working. The speedometer, fuel gage, revs, all gone! 🫣
Excelent video. Between Sym Jet X 125 vs Honda PCX 125 vs Yamaha NMAX 125, which one do you recommend in regards to safety, reliability, fuel economy for 170cm guy?
I’ve had this bike for a year now, since owning it I’ve have LOADS of electrical issues. As soon as it rains the lights stop working and when I indicate my lights act weirdly. I’ve since solved this by covered the grips with mittens not ideal but it stops the water getting in the switches. If you have a solution for this please let me know. Also if the battery gets lower than 10volts it won’t start the bike. It has to be 12-13volts to work seamlessly. Oil light is an absolute annoyance and a pain to reset I’ve since just left mine on now. Also the engine light comes on when it rains so obviously water in the electrical system. I’m just to solve this fully.
I've got an ABS 2021 model and just ran out of fuel today. Clocked 214km w a full tank. I live in a really hilly island (Madeira Island) and I usually go up to 95-100km/hrs on freeways w ease unless it is a bit windy (specially on big open area high overpasses) and it can feel a little bit wobbly. Having said that, I agree the tyres should've been bigger and larger. I'm 6'2 and 98kg and it still feels really nice to ride. Paid for a 2nd w only 6000km about $2200 euros.
@@SkyDangerTV Sim, 3,12L/100km. Enchi o tanque desde vazio e deu 6.67L Comparando com motas de amigos (PCX e outra Sim Jet 14) está basicamente no mesmo nível de consumo.
@@gizmer5197 Yeah, very comfortable. I often cruise more than 100km in one go and it's easy to ride. the only thing is that the original set of mirrors is very crap and not adjustable enough for our height. I would recommend getting a bigger and fully adjustable set
Not much cheaper than a PCX or an NMax but will probably depreciate a lot more. New price needs to be a lot cheaper than a Honda or a Yamaha to be even worth considering - probably circa £500 rather than £150.
hi, just arrived in turkey how is the sym jet x 125 engine, does it have a chronic problem, can you recommend me to buy it for a ride with an aftershock, I used honda pcx 150 before
Hi ive got the jet x , im about ti get new tyres at the weekend, probably Michelin city grip 2s but whst size would anyine recommend? I was thinking about getting 110/80 14 front and 120/80 14 rear but after watching this video th chap mentioned 130 rear ? Any advice would be massively appreciated.
Also just to add a question, my top speed is 58 , absolutely no chance of it going any faster . Is there anything I can do to get more speed ? It's a 2022 I'm the second owner.
Definitely worth a look and for the price and the alarm that’s included,as my motorcycle was stolen, from outside of work. Not happy but luckily I’m insured.
Hi there. I bought one of those Jet X 125, in Portugal. It´s a fantastic mini scooter. I don´t like the style of Nmax or PCX. 7600km allready and more to come... ✌
There alright if you're set on a budget, but if you have the extra cash. Get the nmax or pcx. The parts easier to get. Alot more reliable. The downfall to these are the service intervals and the crap alarm. Also in winter they have major cold start issues.
It's not adjustable, just for design. You can buy however an after market windshield if that's what you want, but be careful because you might also need to buy extenders for the mirrors otherwise you won't be able to turn without banging the windshield to the mirrors.
Nice looking but rivals like PCX or N125 have ABS as standard, wider tyres and in the PCX great fuel economy so over 2 years this would cost more and lose value at a faster rate, need to cut price to £2999
how do you turn off the alarm? if you turn the scooter off it will beep after 3 seconds. you don't have time to get off and open the seat or the alarm is already on. super annoying
There is always something, though there are 4 or so for me which standout ever so slightly than the rest. It will always come down to personal opinion.
Thmx for video, i have red one, now 440 km i was ride. I am thinking littlebit noisy than pcx, and when i test open the gas 7:31 on the middle stand motorcycle goes to back, vibrations made this, but when i ride i did not feel more, i bought topcase 45 litter and fully protection bar. I saw our exhaust different model. Finally i can say good quality. I wanna ask what is tyre brand, in Turkey they put unfortunately CST tire ( naylon) if the same can you share me please about this tire did you like or etc.
modern scooters have tons of after market parts when it comes to cvt so if you want it to accelerate faster you wont have a problem looking for the right parts although this might be the opposite when it comes to european countries where sports bikes and beefy cruisers are the kings
There is no jet x 14. The sym jet 14 and sym jet x are practically the same scooter. The only difference is what you have stated. Keyless. Also the front light and led indicators. The rest is the same. Same frame, same fuel tank. Same brakes. Even the same engine. Although the sym jet 14 is tuned differently with heavy roller weights. The sym jet 14 lc 125 is 13hp. The jet x is 12.5.
got same scoter but it is 168 cc aircooled and with 2 channel abs top speed 115km and also i have same color u have my problem with it are 1.rear springs are too hard and if u are riding solo you would feel every bump 2.clutch box too noisy 3.needed a hand break so i don't have to keep holding the break behind red light 4.it's hot for a 168cc needed watercooling not air cooling (wtf sym) 5. in iran comes with iranian tires with are no good and i can't change them cuz of 10k Km/1year warranty
I do a lot of country lanes and long distance .. iv got the sym jet 14 and its struggling after 5000 miles .. would this model be better? And I'm an all weather kinda rider
Jet 14 and Jet X are the same bike with different fairings. If you have the Euro 4 Jet 14, the water-cooled Euro 5 Jet X or Jet 14 would help a bit, but realistically you should get something with the full performance allowed in that license category, which in the EU is ~11kW or ~14.8 hp for the 125cc class. Something like a Zontes G1/U1, KTM Duke, or Yamaha XSR125/MT125. The Yamaha engine also has a dual profile camshaft (via VVT or VVL? I'm not sure), which should give it a real boost all over the rev range compared to its competitors. A traditional sequential gearbox also minimizes your drivetrain losses through the CVT and centrifugal clutch.
I like sym scooters and when you ride them they always feel solid. But....always a but.. fuel economy has never been great on any of them. So when you buy a scoot if economy is a high priority most would buy a japanese scoot...
@@mmkw5621 Factory defect. Water gets into the wiring connectors from the handlebar when it rains, resulting in loss of indicators, and or brake lights. It's a widely known issue from 21/22 plate. Don't know if they fixed the issue at the factory for 23 as it put me right off Sym
I wish people would stop pronouncing SYM as if it is a word. It is pronounced as three separate letters S. Y. M. Like that. Why can't people get it right. Upsets me so much because you claim to know what you are talking about, but you cannot even get the name correct. Just sad.
