It doesn't necessarily change the meaning of the song, but rather reveals it

I personally think this cover hasn't CHANGED the tone, so much as it REVEALED the tone of the lyrics. It's about being desperate enough for a partner in one's lonely life that one is willing to beg to mythical creatures for help.

Always thought this would be a great OST for Netflix's Sandman..and boy I was so happy to see that it was included in the trailer's ending.

Funny. The original sounds hopeful, but this one makes it hopeless.

The subtle shift from "bring me a dream" to "bring us a dream" is so cool. At first it's just the lead singer. Then you can hear a slight voice in the background. Then its "us" with two loud voices.. Then finally just "me", but they're distorted. It tell such an interesting story, like theyre begging not to be alone because someone evil is with them

wow, the original song can be transformed into this sad, dark tone.. reminds me of sleeping at last's 500 miles..

I would describe this song as a beautiful blue-greenish dream. Yes, there is sadness but I don't describe that sadness as pain. I see beauty in sadness and it's beautiful.

This sends me chills. Its vibe is basically the opposite of the original. They were singing dreamily for love, whereas in this it sounds like he's wishing for a partner for comfort, to get him out of his loneliness.

There was an excellent book I'd read years ago that ended with the main character floating away in an escape pod after saving the world from an asteroid. The book ended with him dying while listening to his favorite song on repeat. This is the type of song I'd imagine he would listen to as he floated away to the emptiness of space.

Its the most beautiful version of Mr Sandman I've ever heard. I wish it kind of talked about a guy instead of a girl. Only because there's a boy I really love and I wish I could listen to this and think about him. He passed away a few years back, but the fact that this cover is so beautiful makes me forget the lyrics and get lost in the 'feel' it gives off. This is beautiful, so thank you for this.

Being that I am almost 33 years old, and my mother being a baby boomer from the late 40's, I was raised on the 1958 version of this song by the Chordettes. I honestly have not heard a cover of this song before, but I am truly impressed with this remake. I would love to hear you all make a version of Unchained Melody by the Righteous Brothers, Love Potion #9 by the Searchers, or Smoke Gets in Your Eyes by the Platters. More so the first and last...I hope you all can make this happen! :D

This song gives you the same feeling as riding passenger side in a car in the dark with a streetlight every 1 mile so its really dark for a long time and then its bright orange for a second Its also dead silent in the car and you are really tired but cant sleep

Okay so usually I listen to the oldie versions of these, the a Capella and vocals, but this really gave me shivers, the once peppy and romantic fun song turned so dark and eerie... really changed the vibe and contradicts the lyrics in such a perfect way.
