A piece for piano & orchestra.
Yes, I know the piano part is unplayable in parts with those vast leaps in the left hand, but since nobody's ever going to perform it...no problem! As one of my valued commenters has said, it would probably work with 4-hands or 2 pianos.
Like a lot of stuff I write, this could probably work in a film score but it wasn't written with that in mind.
Written in Musescore 4 with Muse Sounds.

You just gotta give this one to a lefty pianist lol. Another way to make this performable is to give the piano's right hand melody to other instruments and have the piano player focus only on the sextuplets. That right hand melody would work gorgeously on the flute and oboe in octaves. There's a very magical quality to this piece.

Ha! Thank you so much for this and your other lovely comments. It's not often someone takes the time to binge-watch my channel and engage with such generous appreciation, especially when they clearly know their music. Yes, that orchestration would work well. The choice here, however, was quite deliberate (unusually for my random experimental approach to writing!) - I love octave/double-octave piano melodies as they have a lovely bell-like quality to them, and I was trying here to emulate the sound Shostakovich gets in his 2nd Piano Concerto (1st movement). The daft left-hand figure, which was the genesis of the piece, originally set out to try to emulate Rachmaninoff which proved impossible (obviously!) and I ended-up with this, so I plonked the melody on top! Strategy? Nope. Tactics? Nope. 😂

Thank you very much! I wish I could. You should watch the RU-vid videos by Ryan Leach and Ann-Kathrin Dern. Both are film composers, both have tons of stuff on composition that's really engaging and digestible. No music degree required! Good luck!

That piano part could probably be performed as is with a lot of judicious hand crossing; alternatively, I can see it performed as a 4 Hand/2 Player setup. I am building a comprehensive catalogue of symphonies and would like to get in touch with you for details for the inclusion of your symphonic poems.
