I really like the chamber textures that open the work. Very melodic and lovely. In terms of what was being written in 1879 I wouldn't say it's overly long.

I think that is the result of the orchestra playing the music being chosen as similar to the ones available in Denmark at the times. It's a bit ridiculous concept to be honest.

Sergio , ok but remember that once the fall of the Iron Curtain, recordings have been made of provincial orchestras that otherwise wouldnt have had the opportunity. It is a cost thing. Paying the players, the janitors, and the coterie of minor league everybody elses in a " progressive" socialist scene with their hands out. Or at least was, that sort of cost thing. I have enough experience with Western-funded post Wall recording to be dangerous, as they say. 🤣Andrew Mogelia did a really nice Dvorak 4 ( the true Dvorak 4) about 20 years ago when this band came out in CDs - isnt it the old Marienbad Phil. ? and it certainly didnt hurt his career ! e@@SergioCánovasCM

Be aware, also, that every previous upload of these 2 symphonies, either by artists or other channels has been taken down, either by RU-vid or the proprietors. I wish you good fortune.

Dave Brubeck - Blue rondo ala turk sounds exactly the same as the first 40 secs of this symphony

Do tell me how do you manage to unearth such dazzling and luminous, shimmering, melodious pieces of music?

These symphonies were requested by a subscriber, which said that they were previously on youtube but were deleted.

I think Mendelson would like the opening to this rather beautiful piece.

Anyone knows the jazz song that is inspired in the first 30 seconds. It's a very famous one but I can't remember.
