Conducted by Liszt in 1880 which brought Borodin to international stage.

Borodin is one of my favorites. He has this Asian quality about him. As an Amateur, meaning only that he did not get paid for it, I’d put him up at the top with Tchaikovsky. Franz Liszt certainly did.

Комплименты. Бородин- большой сюрприз. 4. Движение чуть напоминает Бетгофена, 9. Симфония

What is it about Beethoven? So strident & un melodious, whereas, in my opinion Borodin seems so underrated in comparison...

All the info is available in the description: "Pancake Tuesday" (1919) by the Russian painter Boris Kustodiev.

Borodin is unfairly underrated but played a key role in defining Russian music as a distinctive genre in the nineteenth century. Always fresh and reflective of nature and romance.

ou are right, of course, but we can go a step further. The way how he turned Russian inspiration into music is a musicological issue in itself, an overarching Lesson in composition.

And he provided the music for Kismet, which simply had to have lyrics provided by George Forrest and his mate Robert Wright.

The Dresden Philharmonic certainly does this work proud. Some comments favor this work over his better known second symphony. It's far more complex, has way more rhythmic flourishes and very colorful orchestration. Borodin is hugely underrated. Best

What the hell does "Pancakes" have to do with this painting? I don't see a pancake in sight, am I missing something? Greetings Canada.

@@paulbrennan5646 Boris Kustodiev's (Russian: Борис Михайлович Кустодиев) Maslenitsa (Russian: Масленица) is a beautiful painting that celebrates Russia's traditional "butter week" - the equivalent of Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Tuesday in the West.

@@olgahavkin1316 Dear Olga: Thank you for explaining this painting to me. I just couldn't see any pancakes anywhere in the picture, but I understand now. Still a beautiful symphony. Greetings from Canada.

Outstanding work -- superior to his 2nd and greatly ignored by today's orchestras .

As I have said in other comments, I cannot stop these ads. The companies who hold the rights of the recordings are the ones who decide to put ads or not, not me, since my channel is not monetized thus I get no revenue from these videos.

far too thumpy, Borodin is more measured than this, too much bass, much of the gorgeous lyricism lost in understatement

Probably too fast a performance. A semibreve is taking barely more than a second. Unlikely to be the correct tempo.

Gran bell'inserimento. .
