So somebody randomly sent me this!?!? Please, whoever you are let me know! I want to thank you (also work out how you got my address?)
This is a 35mm bung and it slides into the pipe with no resistance... you may get away with a 36mm.
The sound is a lot cleaner and makes the car feel a lot more real. An extremely hard install (because the symposer even when released just doesn't come out....) with a 4/5 difficulty easily. This was, in my opinion, harder than installing a sports Cat onto my car during a storm. I hated it.

just did mine this evening,before seeing this video.Was a ball ache for sure.The hardest part is getting a pliers onto the top hose clip,I ended up using a really long nose pliers with a 30 degree bend.This allowed me to get the symposer off with a hard pull.For a job that should take 2 minutes,it turned into a 20 minute job, because there's so little room to get to the clip.

@@hypergarage8595 as long as it goes a little bit smaller than the bung which is 35 mm and goes bigger then you should be all good. Can't remember exact sizes

Tip use scruw drivers to wide hose couse it sticks. Then pull

Thanks Car Rambles. You may be right, eventually I guess I will get tired of it. But I don't know if I will get tired of keeping $750 in my wallet as opposed to a cat back exhaust. Those seem so expensive even though they sound really cool.

As long as it's bigger than 36mm, and goes down to like 30mm you'll be fine. I think the one I was given was 25mm to 38mm

I just had a Mongoose exhaust fitted. For now I've just unplugged the symposer and taped it off. Would do symposer delete but these horror stories worry me. 🤣

@@CarRambles my best mate is very good at fixing cars etc so probably get him to do it 🤣 with 2 of us and the right tools it shouldn't be too bad? What exhaust you have? It's made the car sound so much different. It's much deeper and louder than videos can show. Not ASBO loud but can turn heads. Also really quiet when just cruising along. Really added more excitement to my car.

Would the struggle be less when you take off the front bumper? For instance when you are looking to get an intercooler upgrade? I'm thinking of upgrading the intercooler, might as well do the symposer delete while I'm at it.

Yeah but I wouldnt take the bumper off unless I was doing the intercooler. Not worth the time and effort just to remove a symposer

I'm starting to go towards (slowly anyway) a bigger turbo... Watch this space. It'll take time and whether I actually make it there is another thing but I'm doing my dam best to get there.

Oh Thanks. I have a brand new ST. At what point should I start getting the boost leak? I think I am one of the few that likes the sound symposer, but not if it has a leak. How does one know if they have a leak? Do you lose power? I guess I could always buy a new one at that point.

Seriously I highly doubt you will get a boost leak in the sound symposer unless you run alot more BHP. and then with the exhaust and intake and everything else added on your car I can assure you you'll wanna get rid of the symposer aha. Seriously don't go worrying you might have a leak, I'm 99% sure you won't have one... Especially in the sound symposer.

@@CarRambles i definitely felt it so I have put it back.... I know, I'm an idiot, and it's not as sharp on throttle. Once you're going it's much the same but that initial punch and pick up improves.

Cant you just unhook the hose, rubber band a sock around the end to keep dust out. Then rubber band a sock around the symposer? I know that sounds ghetto but would that produce the same result sound wise? I just thought I might try that temporarily until I have time to do what you did. What do you think?

Sounds so funny. Yeah go for it, see what happens, you should be fine. Alot of people remove it as it's a place with more boost that can fail easier

If you unplug it you'll get the same results as a bung.

I mean in theory you could if your car has a boost system but... Not 100% sure why you would want to other than noise...

It's a rubber diaphragm that vibrates through vaccum in order to create a bass noise which is directed into the cabin.

It's a rubber diaphragm vibrating to the natural sound of the engine / boost system enhancing that sound louder. So it's fake noise and not the natural pitch or tone of the engine / turbo. 👍

@@CarRambles for me it's an optimisation of the sound naturally filtered in the cabin if there wasn't modern-cars insulation. But I get your point, I think it's a matter of perspective. Surely the mk8 fiesta st sound is fake
