Because of these abnormal communication, there can be blood supply to the brain which is not proper. So it is called as the steel phenomenon. Directly from the arterial blood which drains into the venous side without supplying the brain. So the symptoms can be due to lack of blood supply to the brain. The other method of presentation in these patients are due to bleed because these vessels or these arteriovenous malformations will have very weak valve. So they tend to rupture and patient can present with intracranial bleed. The symptoms in these patients can depend upon the location of the arteriovenous malformation. If they are located in the vital areas like our hand movement, leg movement, they can present with paralysis or if they are in the speech area, they can present with speech arrest. These patients can also present with memory loss or abnormal behavior.
