Sync Licensing: How it works for Indie Artists and Music Producers in 2024 

I've managed to get my music into a couple of TV shows and commercials without even investing that much effort. The reason why supervisors chose my music was very simple: it didn't sound like most music in the library; it was more experimental. And there's always a niche for experimental music lovers, even in Hollywood. My point is: My music got placed because I was one of the small amounts of artists who make this kind of music. My advice is: don't try to copy the oversaturated genres in music libraries. Do your own thing.

this video explained more in 5 minutes than other peoples similar videos did in 30 minutes. my struggle has been, ive been making music on GarageBand for a solid decade...I have roughly 100 instrumental tracks/beats...and to this day never once put my foot down on distribution or monetization because I was cared of the licensing. I still have questions but if you see this comment and can PM, I may be able to quickly ask those questions and get some real direction. I want to start slow, and pretty much use just Soundcloud to distribute and monetize, and get myself settled into that platform, then extend to RU-vid etc. what confuses me is licensing. I have always thought it to be this overly complex way of selling my music legally. having to license every single track...and keep record of it. and then still having no clue what to do if there are issues with someone else using it etc. any input would be great and again, this video did help me understand things I did not before. thanks bro!

as a producer i am heavy into video games so united masters is my go too for sync i heard distrokid don't support hip hop and edm tracks so no go for me trying too get with playstation
