This is HUGELY helpful! Hurrah that Tim was willing to spend this time with you, and hurrah that you reached out to him - AND had a great set of questions prepared to guide your conversation! I have signed up for an artist account and last week I attended my first training session via Zoom (led by a guy based in Brooklyn, NY.) Now I need to continue to uploading songs and creating different playlists such as "one-stop" (for songs which I own both sides of), jazz covers, pop covers, winter holiday song covers, songs based on certain moods and BPMs, etc. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!
After spending 4 years trying to go direct to music supervisors, I have given up. Like they said, music supervisors get 1000s of emails everyday. What the sync license course sellers don't tell you is that music sups already have their trusted pipeline of music publishers and libraries that they work with. To try and break in as an unknown is virtually impossible. It's like dating sites, 90% men compete for the 10% of women. Artists are the 90%. I would bet that most artists don't even know the type of placements there are. Music Sups don't want to waste their time hand holding artists. Good luck with Disco.
Hi, thanks you for the video and your time... I am confused about the discovery suite pricing vs artists account... "How do nested tracks count towards my track quota?" Ex I have 1 song and ten alternative versions ie... My Song Title_No Drums, My Song title_ No SFX, etc. and 20 stems for that song... how are they counted towards my quota ? I am a bit confused. I understand the artist account is unlimited tracks but I am not sure about the discovery sweet quota and how to calculate. Thanks again.
hello, discovery suite includes multiple features including auto-tagging. this is an AI that will tag all of your tracks with common descriptions used by vetted music supervision professionals. For every track you tag using this feature it will count as 1 towards your discovery suite auto-tagging quota. For all tracks that are nested that will count as 1 towards your track quota, except for stems. So if you have a main, instrumental, track with no drums, and stems that is 4 tracks counted towards your quota. for the artist plan you get unlimited tracks and unlimited tagging, but in order to get other features within discovery suite you'd need to upgrade to pro.
What if people resample the audio from the streaming links? Also if the track is not registered with things like distrolock, how can you prove that it is your song when someone stole it and distribute to their own Spotify account ?
Listen if ppl are going to Go that far you won't be able to stop them with anything. I have just not found this to be something that happens. we can't do this from a state of fear. We have to make what we make and put it out there and keep making more.
Hey, so signed up for Disco. I tested the internal email system by emailing my other email account and it went into my spam folder. How do we get around this happening with the professionals that we are contacting?
I had an account for about 5 months. My uploaded songs had zero views and I was never certain if I'd made an error in the creation of my account despite attending a zoom tutorial provided by Disco. Maybe Disco is more appropriate for users who have already made contact with music supervisors.
People don’t go there looking for music. You have to send out links to music supervisors, music libraries, etc. If you are not proactive no one will ever see it. It’s the same with any place you put your music really.
