@@MarkHarrison733 The disaster wasn't entirely his fault. It happened because the post war consensus had reached its arc limit, and change was needed. Change that Callahan did not stand for.
@@MarkHarrison733 The post war consensus was nothing but the system of welfare and trade unions that Clement Atlee established, at a tome when Britain needed to rebuild after the war. By 1979, it outlived its usefulness, was a heavy cost on the treasury, and stifled economic development. Callahan's problem was he believed in fixing it, not tearing it down and starting from scratch.
Everything you can see from cars to the plods uniforms were made in Britain, not any more, German cars for elite these days, Italian suits, Prada shoes and food from every corner of the globe, so sad.
@@briandelaney9710 I was a teenager living through the entire 70's shit show of socialism and wicked, evil tyranny trade unions systematically destroying a once great nation. And then Saint Maggie stepped in and saved us from national humiliation and forever strikes, decay, defeat and decline. Concensus politics,..1945 to 1979...the rotting carcass of socialism which died in 1979,... a mercy that it did. An evil curse never to be bestowed on the UK except Blair imposed his Marxist horror on us all and we are still suffering to this very day.
