T/DLX is a Fender Twin Reverb type circuit on the T channel and a Fender Deluxe Reverb type of circuit on the DLX channel. I say type of circuit since Fender did not have a part in making that preamp
This Ultra Lead module has really got me craving one of the UL heads. I love your earlier video with the UL head, and this is making me crave it some more, lol. Killer tones!
I find it interesting that the second Syn-2's volume is set to zero. Due to this video, I bought two Syn-2 docks and a Fryette PS-2A Power Station. Sounds killer with the OS modules I use and some G12M-25 Greenbacks and G12H-30 Heritage speakers (both 55hz and 75hz in X pattern with the Greenbacks in two 412s).
@@austinfailz What is the rear wiring set up when running two Syn -2’s and a PS-2A? I haven’t seen anything diagraming the cabling. Also with a Cyclops I think you can also run an amp through the Power Station as an attenuator, so effectively 10 channels through the set up. I’m afraid I’d not be able to get it to work. I’m in my 60’s not my 20’s! 😄
I was dead set on the Fryette Deliverance being my first module, but when the time came I waffled and got the Pitbull instead. Glad I did. I've heard the 2 Fryette modules are actually a lot more similar than than they are different.
Wow man! Your playing is reaching new heights. I just got a Powerstation 100 and I thought I knew what I would use it for. But now the Synergy products are on my radar!
I got a SYN1 that used to run into the OraNge pedal Baby into a Harley Benton 2x12 w/V30s. these days I just run it direct into my interface with a a two notes Torpedo C.A.B. M. Someday I'll upgrade to the SYN2! SLO and the ENGL Savage are my favorite modules ATM...
The Bogner Uberschall must be very nice too 🤘🏻 One of the best sound vids ive seen so far, thanks. So i just bought my self a syn50 and the Fryette pitbull preamp🤤
pretty much decided i'm getting the syn1. choosing a module is painful though lol. i thought it would be the slo right out of the gate, but i think i like the engl powerball more. however that pitbull is pretty damnnn fantastic! then so is the ecstasy for leads and chimes and more traditional tones. uggh :S
except the TDLX everything else sounds pretty much the same, common issue with high gain settings, the Ecstasy surprisingly doesn't sound dark like the real amp but lacks the thickness of the real amp. SLO sounds pretty close to its real amp.
thank you Reza! after sampling your CHUGS (time stamped), the Bogner's mids seem really present without sacrificing the lows...is that your experience? Pitbull UL Green: 1:00 Pitbull UL Red: 1:24 Ecstacy Green: 2:17 Ecstacy Red: 2:53 SLO Blue: 5:43 SLO Blue: 6:09 (vol increased) SLO Red: 7:08
I'm thinking about getting two Syn-2 docks like this and getting 4 preamp modules, just not settled on which yet. I think I may get one of the Fender style modules (T Dlx, B Man), maybe the OS (Dumble style), and possibly both Fryette modules. Alternatively, instead of the Fender style and OS, possibly the Plexi and 800. How did you hook up the preamps to your PS-100? I have PS-2A I plan on setting it up with.
Great sound, i have the ps2a but i cannot having such aggressive sound, it's like having a crunch but not that sound, how do you connect modules to fryette? Could be my power station not really good?
yo those alnico creams are ripping the alnico is that high out put metal like the pickups ? sounds really good oh yea i got the diezel front load it has 2 v30 and 2 g12k100
Why does everyone insist on putting a V shape into the UL's GEQ. It doesn't need it. My Pittbull 50CL without GEQ sounds absolutely punishing and brutal without that weird hollow mid sound that everyone seems to dial in with the GEQ. Get to know the Pittbull's preamp without the GEQ first.
I was going to ask the same. I am thinking on leaving an empty slot between the Syn2 and the Power Station but I am not sure if that would be enough or would I need some kind of ventilation system
@@ismaeldiaz7978 I settled on having a dedicated 3u rack space just for the power station and have my syn 2s and power conditioning in a separate rack case... It's not as compact as this guys set up howeverI like having the power station in its own house for ventilation and to use on my other amps
How accurate is the pitbull module as far as feel? I'm looking into a ul module and a 292 for a rack mounted ul; so long as it's just like the the head.
I'd really like to know are you like running all those preamps together or they just I mean it sounds awesome bro and I'm heavily and wanting to put a new rig together bro I mean you know synergy looks like a dream come true you know to me that looks like either you have like two separate sleeves that adapt the preamp into the power amp I forgot to call I don't like the idea of paying like that much money for those sleeve things that accept the preamp they are like seven or eight hundred dollars just for the the thing that holds the preamp I'm sorry man I'm trying to find out what you were doing and I got to tell you I learned an old trick from any Van Halen a long time ago no matter what you do you know I'm not a young guy no more long story short I used to run a caveman rig like Randy rhoads couple jc800s stereo course overdrive pedal however most importantly you got to have like a 31 or 32 bandy q that is part of your pre-amp man that is how Eddie always got his tone and nowadays you can get a parametric also however like I said man that graphic EQ even if you have like a sixteen channel that's not bad but that's how Eddie really got his tone anyways please answer that question
Hey! I tried looking for this head case. Can't seem to find it. Any help? Specifically the one in this video with tolex and no chrome corners. Currently trying to create the same rig.
I’m torn between the Bogner 3534 and this system. The former would be great to own but the latter would be expansively a better option for my ever changing tonal desires. However if the module isn’t really in the same league than I think I may go 3534. Any takes on my predicament?
question about this setup: today I picked up a PS-100, I threw it in my 4U gator case, there's probably an inch of space above and below the PS-100, and it seems way too hot IMO. Have you had any issues running this configuration for any period of time? maybe I'm being overly cautious but I'm leaning towards pulling it out of the rack case because of the heat.
@@RezaMatix interesting, thanks for the quick reply! i’m mostly going to use it as a power amp for preamp pedals but will also sometimes use it with my twin, after playing with it for like 30 minutes just using the line in to my cab i was shocked about how hot it was, good to know that shouldn’t be an issue. cheers!
@@RezaMatix I think I'm going to order one of these rack heads from vboutique. What's the depth of your rack head? (My power amp is deeper than the Power Station you're using).
I don't know if you are still following the thread, but if you are, what strings and gauge size are on your Les Paul with the Arcane 13 bridge pickup? Just brutal tuned to Drop C.
Only problem with the power station for this setup how can you do stereo since it isn't stereo? Wouldnt the whole benefit of synergy be that you could blend 2 amps in stereo.
@@RezaMatix The whole system doesn't really make sense to me, we are going backwards. The preamps in the 90s were a better way of doing things. I would rather have an ADA MP1/2 and a Triaxis in a rig with a 50/50 or 2:90. You can get more tones with it in stereo for what would have been less money at the time. Now cause they don't make them anymore they are a little inflated. This system should have had controls like a modern modeling amp with effects on it in stereo for this price.
@@RezaMatix Its a good system still I can see buying it but I think its kind of backwards in technology. Its the same thing Randall tried about 20 years ago.
Hi Reza, I know this is an old video but hopefully you can answer this question, i'm thinking of replicating this system for studio use, I have a bunch of amps but i'd like to add this system to have the Bogner/Fryette etc etc, I'd like to go for 8 of the preamps, here you have 2 SYN-2 units linked into the power station, is it possible to have 4 SYN-2's linked into 1 power station? Thanks Reza keep up the good work
@@RezaMatix Thanks Reza, I did'nt realise you could daisy chain them together, so to confirm, you have both SYN 2's set up in series into 1 channel of the power station then going to 1 cab or out of the XLR output of the PS? Thanks again
so Reza, how close does it get to original amps? Please, if you gonna make some comparison video, compare preamps in return of originals, not full amp to synergy pre + 3rd party poweramp :3
don't overthink it. do you want the real amps? buy them. do you want something fun and cool that sounds good in a tiny package that you can collect a bunch of and swap them out? then buy this.
Sting Carlsson what does a “real”preamp sound like....if you don’t like the stuff, then don’t buy it...We get your point, you don’t like Synergy...got it....but I am not really interested in what you like or don’t like..
@@scottpeters4401 if you want low quality imitation of real thing buy synergy devices, because of their construction, they won't bring you the tone of the amps they try to be. And It does not matter weather you like it or not, low budget imitation will always sound so.
Sting Carlsson that is your opinion....they are not “budget”devices...I have a Soldano X88R preamp from the 90’s....the Soldano Synergy module sounds IDENTICAL.....if you hate the Synergy stuff so much, then why are you here??Move along...don’t buy the stuff, don’t watch the video....or better yet...you do a comparison between the Synergy and the real amp....yeah...I didn’t think so..
@@RezaMatix I've been going through a bit of an identity crisis with amps. I tend to like the low end thump that dual rectifiers have. can you recommend me amps that are similar to that, but perhaps a bit more "put together"? Also, are you interested in the badlander?
it seems as the visual indication on each module (the LED light that glows) should be enough for anyone..I don't think I could be more clear than a glowing light...
@@RezaMatix yeah you’d think but there’s a few leds for those of us not familiar be nice to hear verbal cue, I mean figured out fairly qwik ..but was watching with band mates ..and it didn’t seem as clear to those knuckleheads …nice work though helped me make a $400 decision 👍🏽👍🏽
The PS-100 sounds very transparent, and maybe a bit flat?, compared to UL with KT88. Anything you want to say regarding the difference between the Syn/PS-100 setup vs the REAL UL?
@@stingcarlsson7988 PS-100 being 100watt with 2x6550 could not compete with 120watt 4xKT88. I am confident that the transformers in PS-100 delivers the goods, but I fear that the tubes are pushed much to achieve 100watts (50watt pr tube) whereas the UL got going 30watt pr tube. I guess PS-100 sounds more compressed and UL got (much) more dynamics and air.
@@stingcarlsson7988 What are you talking about?? Synergy is just a PREAMP, it's not supposed to have an Output Transformer, therefore and it doesn't affect dynamics and punch. For that case, you should look at the power amp where the preamp is being driven into. If you ever feel something is missing dynamics and punch, look at the power amp. Failed attempt to bash a product.
What do you use to keep the power station cool, i am concerned with putting anything 2 slots above it in my rack? The ps2 generates quite a bit of heat.
