Synevro - Achaia | A fairytale theme park hidden in the mountain
Synevro is a village of Achaia and belongs to the Municipality of Egialia. It is located on the bank of the river Krio, a little above Svyros and at an altitude of about 550 meters, with its houses scattered on two levels (neighborhoods). It has a population of 38 inhabitants according to the 2011 census. According to the census data, in 1851 the village had 173 inhabitants. In the following years the population fluctuation followed a steadily declining course. Thus in 1879 the inhabitants were reduced to 166. In 1896 it was 121. In 1920 30 people lived in the village. In 1928 the population more than doubled to 77.
The tradition, which refers to how the village got its name, is also remarkable. In the very old days in the area there was a big forest and many animals lived there, including deer. Because the newborn deer was called "nevros" and the first inhabitants of the area met many small "nevros" in the surrounding area, they named their settlement "Sy-nevros". This name remains to this day. It is one of the few villages in the area that did not change its name during the 1950s. Although in official documents the spelling Sinevro has prevailed, the historical sources record it as Synevro.
Just an hour and a half from Athens, in Synevro Egialia (Akrata) the Culture and Leisure area "Area Synest" is a unique destination for excursions for families, groups of friends, schools and visitors who love to explore the greatness of nature.
