The Pro One had two keybed revisions and both are notoriously unreliable, as you can see. My only option here was to control it with CV/gate from the Arp Odyssey to the side, but the trade-off was being able to get a front-on angle. Apart from the keys, I absolutely love this synth. It has a great beefy sound with a nice modulation matrix to make things interesting. It reminds me a Moog with its fatness, but it can also get those sharp, punchy Roland SH-like tones. I recommend it, but be prepared to control it externally or put some work into the keybed!

I recently traded a prophet 5 rev 4 desktop and a casio FZ1 for a pro one. What I traded was probably worth way more in value but I'm glad I got the pro one. I didn't have a mono synth and it really makes a difference having a great mono synth. Plus this has that special vintage vibe that the P5 had. It was a great synth but a little to clean and sterile

Those high range sqaure tones are angelic . Lovely lovely sound . It has a very diverse pallete. Great demonstration.

I replaced the keyboard in my pro one with one of these: techsmechsvintagesynth.com/home/tm-2%20pro-one%20keyboard%20replacement%20kit.html ... good price, not hard to install... and rock solid!

As the original owner of this beast..... ( 1984 @ $525.00 ! ) I never get bored with it's sonic ability or it's modulation matrix . Old school synthesis at it's best . As it's circuits age over time ( knobs , switches and the keybed contacts ) Become problematical, using the CV input works well enough. Sequential & Dave Smith produced an amazing machine , given that Roland , Korg . Yamaha & others also came out with versions of a low cost mono synth at that time , this one carries that famous Prophet sound. As it is the only analog synth in my set up it stands it's own ground in a mix .It's like a warm fuzzy blanket on a chilly night.
