It may just be my perception, but Blofeld seem to be a bit under the radar for most people. Maybe it's just because they've been around so long now, but definitely consider taking one for a test drive if you come across one. Its palette is wide, but of course it excels at digital, metallic, and icy sounds and textures. Editing isn't very hard to do and the modulation matrix was surprisingly powerful. If you've got analog ground covered and want a new dimension in your arsenal, these are pretty cheap these days, so check it out! I also recommend the Modal Argon for a similar vibe.

This is a great synth and a good demo, its sound is just great. It's one I'll never let go of.

Not sure if the keyboard units or even the newer units in general have remedied the issue, but I have an earlier production desktop Blofeld and they are notorious for an output-stage issue, basically a surface-mount resistor fails and it's extremely small and it makes the output EXTREMELY quiet on headphone output as well as L-R 1/4" outputs. The fix isn't awfully hard if you can actually find the documentation on how to do it, but it does involve opening the unit up which can be a bit tricky for a couple specific points, plus you need to source the correct resistor(s) which I believe were a fairly obscure value. Some folks said they just bridged the connection and essentially eliminated the resistor entirely, but your mileage may vary. I bring this up because it is exceedingly frustrating to have an issue like that precisely because the unit is such a powerful and versatile synth, and not being able to get proper output levels really discourages playing around and exploring what it can do.

Like it! Conjures up immediate Kate Bush late 70s through mid 80s vibes for me. Classic prog sound. Probably won’t appeal to some of the younger players however.

What's your opinion on the Modwave? Have you tried the plugin demo? I slightly prefer the sound of Icarus, but I think the Modwave holds up well.

I haven’t spent much time with the Modwave, but it sounds good. Just hard to excited about a synth when the plug-in is identical lol

Hi, I've tried a lot of synths, but I just can't like this one; It sounds too "tinny", and it seems that all the patches have in common a sort of "digital hiss", very annoying in my opinion. I tried one in the store, many years ago in headphones, but the output volume was very low. That little bit of "interesting" it can have, and more than filled by many other synths, in my opinion. For these reasons, I think I, and many others, feel that it is not worth it.
