Very comprehensive description. I have passed this synth up for years, thinking it was no big deal and offering nothing unique. The additive, fm and wavetable engines, combined with the number of voices has really caught my attention, though. Thanks for making this video!
Yeah, and I forgot to mention the vector synthesis oscillator and audio input which are available also! Once Synthmaster 3 comes out, I definitely think it could be a 'desert island' synth.
@@quantaaudio I am really looking forward to SM 3...mainly due to(hopefully)...bringing forth a much broader user base and launching Synthmaster into the mainstream(i.e. more 3rd party expansion designers, that do something more than just make a load of monochromatic chord/arpeggio crap.) I am disgusted that such a versatile & powerful synth only catering to EDM. I am not particularly against EDM as a whole, but a lot of the factory presets just make a bunch of noise. To make matters worse, most of the expansions are EDM. This modern trance & dub-step shit is mostly brash & unmelodic noise and there is way too much of this bullshit in Synthmaster( it's no wonder why KV331 Audio plasters their internet ads at every turn, as their pushing a product that many users don't want, due to the onslaught of EDM & SM 2 is overrun with it.) Some of the presets are absolutely astounding & I love them to death(which is why I chose to finally purchase SM 2 after a decade of contemplation)....but there is not much use for it(which is to say, I am not a sound designer)...but rather, a tweaker. The only current expansions I am even considering, are the Big Tone ones(as at least that sound designer offers new sample content & the audio demos are interesting.)
Yessssss! This is the best move they've made. Reaching out to you. I wanted to like more this synth. Started when I discovered Kevin Schroeder presets. So I came to make a search on RU-vid about building a patch. And holy cow there's you. NOW I GET IT! Hahaha Thanks man. And to whomever found you from KV33. Cheers!
Awesome, man. Glad you found the tutorial helpful. Synthmaster is pretty deep and I've been happy to put these tutorials together to showcase it's potential! Thanks for watching and all the best.
Thanks! Glad you found the video useful. I guess version 3 is out now - at least the alpha version. It is a great synth, the interface just needs some major updating.
I just got it on sale. I always wanted to try it after I got the synthmaster player but it was just more than I could afford. I feel so lucky. I really love it. The sound is generally rich and thick. Some of the presets sound truly analog and super fat. There's so many options. It's incredible. I wish it had a hold button. Maybe I just haven't found it yet. Thank you guys so much!
Just bought this for £35 in the Black Friday deal and I'm really impressed. I was thinking of buying one or two physical synths next year but I'm thinking an Arturia Keylab II 88 with maybe a Roli controller patched up to soft synths like this one and the superb Cherry Audio range is really the way to go. You certainly get a lot more bang for buck going this route! 😎
Thank you for your tutorial on SynthMaster 2, I have had this plugin in my folder for years and I never used it to its full potential, this synth stands at the top with few other power synth’s on the market.
Yes, it's depth is not immediately apparent. I will be posting a 3-part series that goes into depth on this synth in the coming days. Lot's to cover! Thanks for watching.
very good basic overview. i watched a few, but this is the best. the only flaw is, that you waisted a lot of screen space by not going fullscreen. i watched the video on an ipad and some details you only can guess, but not really see.
how do people feel about this as an all rounder go to synth for dance music ? i need a really solid sound source was thinking omnisphere 2 but not seen this one
So which synth plugin do you advise synthmaster 1 or synthmaster 2. What are the main differences between them, I know synth 2 is a little bit more expensive. I bought synthmaster 1, wondering if I should go for number 2. Thanks for your tutorials on these 2 synths, had no idea how to use them and you really saved me from just twiddling knobs.
If you'd just like to 'play around' a bit with synthesis, then go for the Synthmaster 1. It is streamlined with all controls on a single page, right in view. If you'd like to go deeper into synthesis and would like a powerhouse synth. Get Synthmaster 2.
Then don't watch the video if it's not your style... Very simple solution. Making use of the back button in your browser would be much better than taking time to write a comment to try to infect the world with your misery and ungratefulness.
@@quantaaudio Haha, well said. Hey man, great tutorial, thank you for it. I bought Synthmaster2 years ago via Plugin Boutique, haven't used it yet but your tutorial gave me itching fingers!
