Enough with the remakes and reboots, they wont bring your childhood back. Ask for new games in the style of games you like, or sequels instead.

Thank you! And yeah for sure, I just finished and am exporting another theory TAS that gets 57:47 on Bizhawk, which would be ~56:42 on console. A 59 would be very doable with a committed enough grind, even on Bizhawk.

yeah my childhood with Syphon Filter and Resident Evil very long time , best story and shotting with nice gun :) Resident Evil keep growing and remake but Syphon Filter maybe done , hope for future of this game like SplinterCell and MetalGearSolid , Gabe Logan is a legend :)

Haha, as long as you stay on the left side of the lane as you're coming in, the enemy's grenade will clear the corner and not blow you up. I have lost runs to it, though

That's a scary section, but after taking the time to learn it, you can plan out where you want him to stop or run based on which guards you kill or manipulate to not spawn. Two guards are supposed to spawn near the K3G4 box, but the camera positioning I do starting at 41:48 prevents them from appearing. Lot of neat stuff like that

I used the default settings in Bizhawk. Its loads are much slower than ePSXe. But if the emulator doesn't have a memory card loaded, the save screens can be skipped a lot faster.

I like Syphon Filter, but Metal Gear Solid is S tier. Syphon Filter wouldn't even exist without Metal Gear Solid.

Yeah the console release had analog support. I use Bizhawk, which has some options for adjusting the deadzone and sensitivity on the analog stick that might help. I set the Y stick sensitivity to 110% to fix some issue I was having with my controller (I use an XB360 Afterglow) but I don't remember what it was anymore.

​@@Baronhaynes so you played this run on an analog stick. How did you manage to keep it consistently at headlevel ..cause it naturally has a tendency to go slightly downwards or upwards? I use duckstation btw on 1.0 axis scale when using analog stick.

This sounds complicated at first, but it's not too bad once you've practiced it a few times: As long as Gabe is currently moving (either by holding forward or one of the strafe buttons) AND attempting to fire an automatic as you press the triangle button to activate a switch or item box, the animation will be skipped. The weapon doesn't need to have any ammo in it, but Gabe needs to be holding it up and trying to shoot with it. This means in 99% of cases, you're holding forward and square within range of the button, and then pressing triangle while continuing to hold them.

Two things that can complicate this are: - If there are no enemies nearby and enough time passes, Gabe lowers the weapon, making it take longer to start shooting. You can make sure he keeps holding the weapon out by tapping one of the strafe buttons while running. - Gabe needs to be shooting at least one frame update* before pressing triangle, so you can't press square+triangle on the same frame to get the skip. With practice, you'll get a feel for rolling your thumb from square to square+triangle just as you approach a switch. *Syphon Filter updates every third frame on NTSC (60fps), or roughly every 2 frames on PAL (50fps), so it's possible to press two buttons on different frames, but too quickly for the game to interpret them that way. Like everything else, this will make sense with practice.

I appreciate you getting back to me on this. I saw this and decided to speed run it myself. Played this when I was a kid, 29 now. I'm currently working on a Target lock to instant aim headshot technique that should help in certain points if the game. I also noticed you aim flicker when climbing objects, does this speed up the animation by removing his rendering?

@@nathanspencer8309 By tapping L1 at two specific points in the climb, you can skip a large part of the climb animation, and it saves a little over a second each time. If you're holding the fire button on an automatic weapon when you open a box or using a keypad, it skips the animation, you can do this on all versions of the game
