Literally came here thinking "there's no way Paradise Mantle isn't on the list" and yet... Here we are. With the 0 cost equip it turns all of your knights into Mana rocks on your main phase in a deck that needs Mana ramp like crazy... Add in the equip at instant speed and your able to respond to damn near anything
Was looking for this. My guess is because that sword is now a $5 card it would push the budget and they mentioned but still, it seems perfect for a Mardu commander deck that cares about equipment.
Ever since I started playing magic, I loved the idea of having a sealed, ready-to-play product I can upgrade as I learn. This is great. Maybe you can start a series for other sealed and ready-to-play product upgrade videos too. Keep it up!
I will agree that the precon sucks but it can be pretty sweet when upgraded. I plan on brewing all weekend with it. going to try to keep it around 200. already have most of the mana base. just need some spicy equipment a little extra ramp and some more lords
One card I really like in this deck is Crackdown Construct. It gets bigger for the turn every time you activate an equip ability, which becomes very relevant when all of your equip abilities are free. Slap a Loxodon Warhammer on that, and now one of your opponents is dead and you have infinite life. Surestrike Trident is also pretty sweet; it basically lets you bypass combat altogether and just hit your opponents directly in the face with all of your knights.
It is. The only problem with this type of shenanigans is that the good equipments cost ~5 to cast and then you still need to play the commander for 6, so that's 2 turns gone :/
can't wait for the brawl pre-con game knights episode, hope they use these edited versions and play commander, instead of doing the out of the box thing though
No chance. That would of course be the much better option, but they're sponsored by WotC, who's trying to push Brawl harder than a pimp pushes a crack whore.
Definitely, doing a ‘deck tech’ (card recommendations) is great. Though it is specifically turning a brawl deck into a commander deck, the advice is solid. Thank and keep up the good work.
Reconnaissance!!! A lot of knights have first strike or double strike but even if none of them do, Reconnaissance is super amazing especially in a wider deck strategy.
I was about to be like where are these knights then I went to the upgrade and saw them and was like ohh.... Personally I love knights it was my first modern deck. I built a mono white knight deck and just kept upgrading it. Love the support
Kelley Frost I unfortunately had to scrap it after changes in our playgroup increasing deck power level, meaning that I’d have to buy the expensive equipment (swords, ect) if I want the deck to have game winning potential. However if I do make a decklist just for fun, I’d definitely give you one! Praise the sun 🌞
I was going make a dark souls themed jank deck but I realised no one in my playgroup plays dark souls :p then I tried to make a good deck and my playgroup turned very anti creature and stall-y, mass destruction style of play. Maybe I’ll find a time and a place for Gwyn, lord of ci- I mean hero of ash vale, but now isn’t the time.
Mana cost may be high to some at 3wb, but I’d throw Arvad the Cursed in there. +2/+2 to all the other big legendaries sounds good to me. A 3/3 death touch lifelink blocker suits me fine as well (put entangler and bladed pinions on him to make him more annoying)
Two cards that I want to run if I manage to get them and the precon, are Embercleave and the Circle of Loyalty; Embercleave is a legendary Equipment with Flash that attaches as soon as it hits the table, and has it's cost if 6 reduced for each creature you currently have attacking. With the Circle having it's similarly high cost reduced for each knight you control; the Circle is an Anthem effect that can create more knights both as an ETB trigger, and as an activated ability for 3W.
I really enjoyed this series. Each deck appeals to different players, so I think that it’s beneficial to give a little bit of advice for each deck rather than diving fully into one.
I really liked the minisodes. I am most excited about this commander because the second deck I ever made was warrior tribal and this guy just has that feel. I also have most of the cards I need to support him in a tymna and line slinger equipment deck.
Mini-sodes were great, do more for sure. What would be intresting to see is an entire unedited commander game, even if the video is two parts. would be cool to see what it looks like before the amazing team cleans up the videos
I know we're on budget, but a few cards I really to see. [[SureStrike Trident]] [[Knight Exemplar]] [[Puresteel paladin]] [[Paradise Mantel]] [[Blinding Powder]] [[Call the Bloodline]] [[Righteous conflux]] [[History of Benalia]] [[Order of Midnight]] [[Wintermoor Commander]] [[Inspiring Veteren]] [[Kinsbaile Cavalier]]
I would suggest Puresteel Paladin instead of sram even though he is a bit pricey. He is very synergistic with this deck. he is a knight, he draws you cards when you play equipment like Sram, and much like the commander he can make equip costs 0.
Syr Gwyn is built to Zerg Rush in 1v1, so I'm not surprised it won't do well in multiplayer EDH. It's not a weak deck for what it was made for. Definitely needs some adjustments for multiplayer, based upon the lack of ramp, or at least card draw.
Given the number of artifacts I'd want to have out, I'm definitely adding a Cranial Plating. It might not benefit so much from Syr Gwyn's ability, but it's still going to be all-around good (especially with so many things giving first strike).
I noticed Sunforger in the list of upgrades, and I don't think you thought that entirely through. Once you discount the split cards (which all have too high of a total CMC) and the adventure cards (which don't count as instants or sorceries except while they're on the stack; I checked), I believe there's only 3 cards you can search for. I mean, they're not bad cards, but I feel like you would have been better off using that slot for a board wipe or something.
Game Knights- Any material you put out I really enjoy! I just wish we had a minimum of two Game Knights episodes a week :D. Thanks for entertaining me :D!!!!!!!!
I would added the boros partners out of battlebond. The dragon gives all knight's flying and haste! I think this one's my favourite to convert into a edh deck!
These minisodes were interesting . Makes me more willing to buy these decks, if I can find them. I would add a Whip of Erobos for the life gain and graveyard return for certain moves. It would also help for when Gwyn dies. Let her hit the GY and bring her back then send her to the CZ.
Teferi's protection might be a bit too expensive for the 40$ restriction, but any other mass blink (eerie interlude, as such) can protect your commander. And sine equip cost is 0, you can just re-equip later. Is it as powerful as teferi's protection? For sure not, but it's more budget friendly
I've looked all over online, asked MARO himself but went unanswered and read the Fun Booster Project article but can't find out if there is a chance to get Brawl cards, mainly Arcane Signet, in foil? I know that you can get ancillary cards in non-foil. Edit*- In the collector boosters.
@@TheProjectRocket I saw the section where it said brawl cards but I'm thinkthey were taking about the mythics and rares and not commons...IIRC it also said non-foil chance for those.
I liked the mini-series and would love more bonus mini-series. I will say though, I feel like you guys missed a trick. Your next game knights episode should have been these 4 pre-cons beefed up to 100 card Commander with your 40 card adds from these videos. I get why it has to be the basic pre-cons and be brawl and not commander, but it would have been fun too to see the commander version of the decks get played.
imagine that, they print an OP 2 drop mana rock that is only available these precons and they sell out!!!! the signet is preselling at north of 30 which is more than i pre-paid for the deck!
The mini episodes were cool but I actually really like the more in depth discussion that comes in the longer format. So while interesting for some of the smaller things I would be a little disappointed to see this replacing the long form content. In general I think the short episodes once in awhile are cool and a good way to change it up but the longer content allows for a more cohesive narrative and more in depth content.
While you're waiting for your Brawl deck to be delivered to you I wanted to stop by this comment section to let you guys know that you can get *$1 hotdogs* today September 19th at *Sonic Drive-In* Your choice of either *All-American* or *Chili Cheese* Only available at participating locations.
So I know you are supposed to have about 24-30 tribal cards to make a tribal deck work, but if you are going for knight tribal with lots of equipment, what should the split between knights and equipment be?
Can't go wrong with some lifelink with Loxodo Warhammer and the like, to go harder on the life for card theme, we'll make our own Phyrexian Arena! With equipment and knights.
I loved these minisodes! However, an improvement I'd recommend to these or any deck tech is if at the end you could quickly reel off all the other cards in the deck (here the rest of the 40 you added). I don't need analysis on them but seeing them each on screen quickly and pausing the video to check them out would be great. I watch all your videos on my mobile and clicking a link to a site where the cards are listed is very awkward that I rarely want to do it. If I'm watching on a RU-vid application I can't even see the description or comments. I hope you're able to make this change for future videos!
I would enjoy this deck but my playgroup one of the player his commander is trostani, locust god, and scarab god. He has no problem trading his tokens and I lose out on the card.
Maybe I just put all my eggs in one basket too much...but I really just see this as a voltron commander. The knight tribal part seems mostly disposable. I like the notion of just ramping up some mana and slapping equips down, then as soon as Syr hits the field pile it all on her and kill someone. And yes, helm of the host seems nuts here.
