What is syringomyelia? Syringomyelia is a cystic enlargement of the spinal cord. It typically starts medially and enlarges outwards, eventually damaging the spinothalamic tract, which is a part of the spinal cord that sends sensory signals about pain, pressure, temperature, and touch to the brain.

Thanks for teaching people the importance of knowing what syringomyelia is I’m currently a 14 year old girl who was in a car crash in 2017 which caused a fluid filled cyst (syrinx/syringomyelia) in my spinal cord when I was 7 years old, thanks for teaching people about this. ❤

There's so very little support or relief for Syringomyelia. It's crushing. 😮‍💨😞

I agree it’s so rare people don’t know much about it the hardest part is when bad doctors decide to rob people off which I hate. I was diagnosed with syringomyelia when I was 7 years old in 2017 due to a car crash. I am now 14 and have less symptoms that I had before don’t worry it gets better. :) sending love.❤

@@BloodyBeetle Thank you BB. Sorry about your accident! Your age certainly helps due healing purposes, but I'm many decades older and things heal more slowly now. Best thing I've learned is to maintain your health and mobility, and stay at a lower weight. Best to you Hon! 🙏🕊️

At 4:45 does syringomyelia damage the upper motor neuron fibres in the corticospinal tract or the lower motor neurons in the anterior horns of gray matter? The signs cited are LMN but talking about the corticospinal tract seems confusing here

i like neurology on the neuron level, but when it comes to the spinal cord it makes me mad, its too specific, complex and annoying lol
