This is the third video in the "System Design" series. The video focuses on explaining OSI Model and the protocols related to each of the 7 layers.
In the beginning of the video we talk about why OSI model is important and where it is being used in the industry.
Next in the Application layer we discuss the various type of tasks that a user performs over the web browser namely browsing, file transfer, email and virtual terminal and the protocols associated with all these.
Next up we dive into presentation layer which comprises of Data conversion to binary followed by bit reduction or compression and encryption. Here we open up the concept of Encryption through an easy example and explain how Public and Private keys are helping in more secured way of encryption.
Now session layer is incomplete without understanding two important concepts of Authentication and Authorization.
Next up we discuss how a combination of IP Address and Subnet mask is used to address the packet and tell it exactly receivers - network, machine and application.
This is followed by a quick discussion of how the final packet is sent out and how it is converted to signals in the physical layer.
