Rarely in this world are we gifted of such original poetry, reciting truth and harmony in motion, as a band like S.o.a.D. These guys are, in my opinion, at the top of the shelf when it comes to audibly resonating Beauty in Nature, and Veiled Atrocity. One of the best bands ever given breath, when taking the full measure of their works.

Wasn't one of their tunes I was real familiar with but seeing as how usually "poetry" is done in such a way as to use a surface theme to portray a deeper veiled meaning (Satire), it's not just rhyming words together (that would be Rap), cigaro is the perfect example. Talking about the Fat Cat financiers of the global war machines that are all essentially partners with each other, appearing as if they are adversaries, ultimately seeking the same goal, global totalitarianism.. 1st FatCat: "See, look at my investment (nation/military/war machine)," ---as he puffs a fine cigar--- "it's much bigger than yours comrade..." 2nd FatCat: "Yes, but look brother" --- reaching into the cigar box--- "mine is almost as big as yours too, you know you love it..." They regulate and deregulate the financial stability all over the world. Ebb and Flow, Financial recession and economic recovery (expansion), inflation (of the dollar) and stagnant gross incomes, equals dependency on Gov benefits, bankers convert profit losses into revenue and ultimately huge profits by creating international conflict, financing war machine (on both sides), trigger a tipping point, then "animate" the players, impose chaotic climate in region that is the war theatre, de-animate war machines when objective is complete, collect the spoils (natural resources, including human resources), count up the profits & check against profit prediction Intel/graphs, balance books. They light another cigaro, and then suck each other's cocks... You see, "poetry" of veiled atrocities, like I said... Sigh....

There's something about this song that breaks my schemes. The inicial riff, it's Em6, and it feels strange, like artificial, and then the verse doesn't feel like it's gonna turn to metal. For example, in aerials, the harmony tells you it's metal, but still soft. This verse uses just one chord for practically the whole thing, and it's a chord that's rarely used in metal. Do you know where they are used a lot? In Steven Universe and lo-fi. In the chorus it switches to a pure Em, so even if it still was soft, you would know it's metal. Also, in the verse, what are you trying to tell me with the sweet berries? This song is amazing
Dude. think about it...I think they're talking about adulthood. the children are the sweet berries and there are "two ghosts waiting for you". the ghosts are adults because their life is over as soon as they hit that adult age. Then he asks "are you dreaming...dreaming tonight" in the sense that they need to keep their open minds and not get lost in the non existent lives of the ghosts.
When I was a child I admired serj, when I became the man I am today I regret not giving all my appreciation to Daron for some many ideas I had and all night times where I just thought all night.
Maybe its a play on words? Sweet berries for two as in being buried your physical self and spiritual self. Ghosts no different meaning were literally the same being. Im pretty sure it says dreaming denied not dreaming the night which would be we cant see our actual self and therefore they ask are we dreaming? and flying meaning possibly afterlife and how do we know when we really die who said we were alive?

Tool is progressive metal, and this is SOAD's prog metal song. Other great bands in the genre are Opeth, Green Carnation, Fair To Midland, and my personal favorite, Porcupine Tree, just to name a few.
this song is my absolute favorite...it asks the question that is my personal self wants to know above all else....what happens after death...does it really end like a candle flame being blown away.....i think so.....
This song is a freakin get in a mine, I swear. At 2:04, I never heard Serj scream so powerful in any other song I can think of. Beautiful song, hands down.
this is the only rock band I like tbh I'm not really into this music but something about there music is fukin awesome !! I thank my brother lol for listening to them cuase of him I started to listen to them haha
