So far we've helped you define a winning topic and pilot your search. Now that you've got your initial set of articles, we'll move on to setting inclusion / exclusion criteria to help make the screening & eligibility stages smooth and easy. We'll introduce the key PRISMA tools which will help guide you through the process. Live examples will also be provided of how to make the best use of reference managers for staying organised throughout your review.
Come ready to take notes and make sure you've mastered the previous steps so that you can make the most out of our session.
Cheers,
Prof Stuckler

Thank you Professor! This whole series is a life safer! We don't get this training for our undergraduate thesis. We are just left on our own.

Thank you so much that was really helpful, also as it’s been two years since the upload Covidence - systematic review tool, might have not been on the market yet, but it speeds up the process of ie removing duplicates - might be worth checking it out! Either way thank you, this had made things soo clear 🎉

We don’t officially support Covidence as you can also automatically remove duplicates with Zotero endnote etc. it has definite strengths but when possible we promote open access tools

Thanks for this, it's really helpful. I want to do a systematic review that compares the outcomes of two different methods such as experimental and modelling approaches, are there going to be two separate PRISMA flow charts to select the final set of articles?
@profdavidstuckler
@profdavidstuckler 25 дней назад
Just one flow chart with clear inclusion criteria for both That said if you feel it is clearer you could make two separate branches

Thanks Sir. I will work on the inclusion criteria.

Thank you, Professor! The session was really comprehensive and helpful for me. I just want to comment on 1 thing about the video's quality. I am not sure if others face the same problem as me or not but the video seems blurry. It would be perfect if I could see you and the screen clearly 😄 Again, thank you so much for your help and I'll continue with the other videos.

Hey Hong yes it was a live session so some parts may have been imperfect. We do have a dedicated recorded high quality course if helpful. By the way have you joined our Facebook group?

Thanks, Professor! I have one question. If we are doing a systematic review, can we include other studies that did a systematic review on a similar or relevant topic or we should only strive for the inclusion of empirical studies?
@omoyenim.e6056
@omoyenim.e6056 Год назад
I believe it is generally preferred to focus on including primary empirical studies in a systematic review to ensure a comprehensive and unbiased synthesis of evidence in your study. He mentioned this as well.

Hi David, I'm just starting my screening process and I'm noticing quite a few trial registers and their subsequent clinical trials next to each other in my record list. Can I just merge these as duplicates or are they separate entities that should be excluded as normal? Cheers.
@profdavidstuckler
@profdavidstuckler 3 месяца назад
so you just need the main trial in this case. typically the register or pilot will be superseded by the actual trial and its results. I would exclude any 'pilots' or 'registrations' as they won't report any findings (unless you are just reviewing methods which is possible but less common)
