Finites are the verbs that experience change when you change the tenses and/or plurality of the subject. For example, "you PLAY" in simple present becomes "you PLAYED" in simple past. It means that the word "play" in this case is finite. But be careful when you use the continuous or perfect tenses. In this continuous case: "we are playing", the part that will change when you turn it into past tense is "ARE", not "playing". This means that the part which is the finite is "are", while "playing" is the non-finite because no matter what the auxiliary verb is (am/is/are/was/were) the main verb will still use the form "playing"
