Nice video, but my advise: do something with the datacenter background sound. It's hard to listen, even though I'm used to such sounds in my job, I think they are unnecessary in video.

I think there should be some clarification.. there is two different types of systems engineering (IT, or Product Development) Systems engineering in the IT side is exactly how you described it but… Systems Engineering in product development is completely different (I being a product dev systems engineer) Our goal is to ensure integration between all the systems of a complex system of systems (such as spaceships, airplanes, battleship, cars etc.) requiring a interdiscipline of all different aspects of engineering such as electrical, mechanical, energy, computer etc. to ensure connection and relationships. Major difference between the two.

Very good video! I always love coming across videos like these even if they're a few years old. Would you say that a Sys Admin needs to go down the route that follows it or is it possible to jump to Networking positions like a Network Admin?

You could depending on the size of the company but Sysadmin generally leads into to a Sysadmin role have some years of experience. The smaller the company the more hats you would wear and the greater chance you are going to be doing both Networking and Sysadmin work. Typical Career path for Systems Engineer is Help Desk -> Desktop Support Technician -> Jr. Sysadmin - > Sysadmin -> to -> Systems Engineer. Networking guys follow a similar career path only but Networking related.

This is confusing. Systems Engineer seems to be of two kinds; those who break down anything into systems - space rockets, humans, ecology acc to standards like from ICOSIE and those who work with IT planning infra structure on enterprise level. Im sure they relate but its confusing.

Computer Science and IT are broad fields but CompScie deals more with Software Engineering, Algorithms, Programming, AI, Software Development etc. Network and Systems Administration are more Information Technology Operaition and management roles that administers, maintains and supports an organization infrastructure rather it's on-premise or in the cloud. The two fields to over lap in IT such as DevOps teams when a Network Engineer, Cloud Engineer, Sysadmin, Systems Engineer collaborates with the software development team.
