I just did a calculation with an online percentage change calculator to understand the difference of what my son was doing (shatter and dabbing) as it compares to the pot of the past. An article on ncbi from 2018 says that marijuana of the 1960s to 1980s had less than 2% THC. And it also says "THC products such as oil, shatter, dab, and edibles have been able to get the THC concentration upwards of 95%". That is a 4650% increase in potency. I wanted to put it into perspective this way because we usually just hear that the pot nowadays is around 15% THC and that it used to be much less. This way of calculating shows how much stronger it actually is. Its not 2% stronger or 13% stronger........it can be almost 5000% stronger! Putting regular pot from then to now in the same calculator (from 2% to 15%), the result is 650% increase in potency.
