Edit: she states in interviews that she's always seeked control because she never had it. The beginning tracks are her looking for that control and wanting things to be how she wants them to be. The ending tracks are where she lets go of wanting to have control in her life and over situations. She's just living and going with the flow of life.

Shawn Cee has a talent. Hes a first reaction listener who comes away with more from an album than a person who has a scripted promt and listened to it many times.

I feel like when you skipped Drew Barrymore you lost a piece of the narrative which is the transition from her being upset with not being appreciated enough and then realising that she's so lonely that she's willing to accept anything, (which is reinforced in Prom by saying that she's afraid that she's not doing enough). I feel like the whole album is exactly that, a struggle with control, being too uptight (go gina) and then being down for whatever (anything) and then by the end she realises that really doesn't have anything figured out but that ultimately it's okay.

Idk, seems like the subject matter on CTRL works for me (music, vocals, features, production all sound real good) bc of how she acts in interviews; she talks real quiet, seems real shy and unsure of herself, moves around alot then feels like she has to explain herself, etc. So i buy the insecurity, the feelings of inadequacy, the desire for external approval, all of which cn lead to some of the lashing out/ self-destructive behaviors she talks about. I dont think its just an act. Shes flawed but upfront abt it on the record. I basically like the whole album & i listen to it beginning to end bc it just sounds so good; the tracks have a fantastic flow and except for Travis' all the features work great, esp on Doves and Wavy. Solid project, lots of replay value for me. Thx

and with the contradictions, I feel as though she really just captures the range of human emotions. As soon as we feel welcome or have this facade of security, we feel good. When that is taken away, we lash out and take it out on other people when it can be from us

she said in her breakfast club interview she said she was talking about different guys. the whole album isn't one guy, that's probably why it sounds a little contradictory in subject matter. i loved this album. crazy to see the evolution from teen spirit to this.

Fav Tracks: Supermodel, 20 Something, Go Gina, Broken Clocks, Drew Barrymore, Love Galore, Wavy (--you know what? Theres ALOT Least Fav Track: Garden, if I had to pick one. Production's on point, vocals are ear candy. There are some weird lines but overall the song writing is pretty good. There is a concept, it reminds me of Blank Face in terms of how they conveyed their concept, in other words the concepts are pretty loose. The album is pretty tight, there's not really much filler. 9/10
