No no no. This is based on an American movie called Kill Bill in which the plot follows a girl who is on a mission to kill her ex lover, who has done her wrong. And plus, there’s no such thing as “only way out” in a situation like this. He literally tried to kill her. And then you have the audacity to say basically excuse him attempting to kill because she’s “crazy”. I bet you if it was the other way around, you would be rooting for the male protagonist to get the revenge that is is rightfully his, but because she’s a woman, now it’s “she must’ve been crazy”. Stop excusing and justifying horrible acts directed towards women by men.
As the video clearly shows, we were unaware that this was based on a movie. Without having the context of the film, we were left to create a somewhat logical explanation for why the male character would want to kill his partner. Our reaction would in fact be the same if the roles were reversed as our remarks were based on what was shown in front of us, not preconceived opinions you believe we may have about women.
It makes more sense when you’ve seen Kill Bill part 1 and part 2. The plot of the music video, the outfits, the bike, the sword, the animated part, all of those are referenced from the movie, with her own little twist. Sooooo good! I love how it came full circle at the end, he said in his letter “sometimes you have to protect your own heart, even if it means ripping it out of your chest” so that’s exactly what she did, ripped it out of his chest. So creative!
The video is references but based off to the american movie "Kill Bill" and also the lyrical content details SZA’s homicidal fantasies about an ex-lover while coinciding with the plot of the movies. That why that the theme of the video is getting revenge who did her wrong, that did left her for dead just like the film. 👩🏾⛩🗡🖤❤💋
Without context of the film your going to be confused why he wanted to kill his girlfriend for no apparent reason hence why we started creating scenarios. Perhaps our humour used went over a lot of the American viewers heads as our remarks weren’t that deep and meant to be taken that seriously.
You don’t get it because you’ve never watched Kill Bill. It’s a movie! Along with the fact that y’all talked over her lyrics. How are you supposed to hear what she’s saying? But then again you don’t know Kill Bill so how are you going to understand the concept! Good reaction tho!
