The entire album is killer. Incredibly underrated! Evening Star hits in a way not many other songs have. Makes me want to sing it to my children as a nursery rhyme so they will always remember I love them even if life takes me far away. I don't even have kids haha
this entire album should be put in a time capsule for future generations to listen, to understand what true music made with the heart sounds like, i love these men, HEIL TYR!!!!!
I first downloaded this song as a very young girl (11 or 12 years old at the time, lol) from a family of metalheads not knowing English very well at the time (it is my second language) , I just really liked the voice and the whole musical vibe of it. And now, coming back to it many years later knowing English quite well already I started to love it even more, now because of the lyrics as well, absolutely genius lyrics, by the way! I applaud to you, amazing artists!
If i'm not mistaken, this song is about how people brand Heathens and Germanic ways as Nazi due to the whole Hitler hiccup back in the 30's and 40's? if so, I love you all.
Pretty sure the only people that don't like Germans these days are you-know-who, French, and mainly actual Germans. Sad, but you can't say they didn't do it to themselves.

Pretty dumb that TYR got backlash for this song because certain parties only heard a few trigger words with no regard for the context in which they were written. This song is a giant Fuck You to the extremists on both sides.

Frankly, when the music is this good, I don't pay attention to lyrics. I just want to rock. There are lots of bands and songs whose message I either don't agree with or give a shit about, but I like those bands and songs anyway. Again, I just want to rock.

Amazing song on so many levels. And a lyrical masterpiece for sure, reflects my sentiments exactly! But our modern world apparently abhors nuanced and subtle stances... Out of the frying pan ("inbred morons") into the fire (politically correct paranoia)...

You've got it backwards, Jesse. The reason this became a problem for us is white guilt. There was some hyper sensitive guy in Berlin trying to prevent all events that included nordic heritage, because of its connotations to German recent political history. That was the problem I was addressing first and foremost. When you address that problem and point out the ridiculousness of white guilt, you have to reject fascism in the next sentence or you will be accused of racism or fascism yourself. That is the reason the 2nd verse is in the song. I still stand whole heartedly by every word! And furthermore, I'm not "playing" any sides here. Just stating it plane as I see it. - Heri

I have a feeling this song is saying: "it was seventy years ago, leave us alone". Which is a terrible take. I don't understand why the narrative of the song seems to make yourself the victim while all you guys had to do was say "Fuck Nazis" or "fuck racism" instead now you're making it seem like you're the sufferer somehow?... It's really not that bad a take, at a certain point one has to realize that the people alive today, the people being painted with that same brush today are not the same people that did (insert terrible deed here). The whole "sins of the father" thing is the real "bad take", it just perpetuates division and hate instead of moving on and healing and making this racial doesn't help either it just makes it worse still. It's like white people must have white guilt for eternity but no one else does even though there isn't a race on the planet that hasn't done some terrible shit, absolutely fuck nazi's, but also fuck anyone that thinks "I" have to carry some guilt about it because I have Norwegian and German blood, I wasn't there, my parents weren't there, my grand parents weren't there and my great grand parents fled from there it's got nothing to do with me keep the brush away. @@endless013 No one is saying Tyr is being held accountable for the sins of Nazis. What we are asking is people to kick nazis/fascists out of their scene. You can't complain about people thinking we're racists if we allow racists to walk freely in our midst and steal our symbols for their agenda. The problem isn't white guilt, the problem is white people not addressing racists to fuck off.
