Always liked the T-28, remember when a T-28 went in off the runway at Van Nuys CA. It was being used illegally for flight training and the engine was over boosted on take off and the engine failed. The big mistake was the landing gear was lowered and it landed near a RC field. The plane turned up side down and the engine was ripped off the mounts, trainee was buried in the freshly plowed field and died. The owner payed out $1,000,000 to a middle eastern family and it basicly went away. He was a Attorney and made it go away. The plane was put in a hanger and I went to see it. The power management on take off in the T-28 is complex and must be followed with out fail.
during the cia's secret war in the kingdom of laos, my uncle flew so many sorties... until he was shot down by the communist aaa; he shared the stories of how the engine came to life after that cranking.
Hi Rob! I never got my ticket but soloed fix wing and helicopter in my 20s. Hand a powered parachute in the late 90s. Just fly my drone now. I do know the owner of the plane. He lives in brookings. Going to take me for a ride one of these days. Great meeting you two today!
2nd aircraft I flew hoping through Navy Flt training. A real kick in the ass! Basic to formation to instrument training. No carqual as boat was in drydock at the time. Got carqualed in the F9f-8B in Kingsville, TX. This was a/c was a real joy to fly.
