On this day in 1968 I was 15, and we were going on a school trip from England to Spain. On the cross-channel ferry, there were two pieces of news, the Russians had invaded in Prague, and the Beatles had released Hey Jude. I'm ashamed to say that we mostly focused on the Beatles. It's not that were indifferent, as young 60's hippy types we had followed the Prague Spring with great rejoicing - it's just that we naively thought the Russians would never invade in defiance of world opinion. And Hey Jude was very good. Another nice model and great video. Thanks, also for the memories.
there r 4 nations who r involved in this campaign, not only ‘russians’. i see too many ‘western’ mind people around the world judging russians. remember that modern russia try to defend their motherland, not to invade. as u guys can see that ‘west’ country r invading and involve war in many country like in the middle east, southeast asia, etc. and they’re claiming that every action is to bring freedom and peace, but they started a war? i remember that million of people in palestine died bcs the invasion of israel in the decades. and see what world reaction? they silent. and now russia try to defend their motherland and the world judge them? ironic. sorry my english is bad. i hope peace will come to every country in the world. i just need to speak about this.
Well, my father and his mother have been running away from the main street so soviet tank didn't run over them. Beatles are definitely cool. Soviet tanks rolling down your country - not so much!
Greetings from America. I found this while looking for tutorials on making cobblestone from foam for diorama bases. Your work is as poignant as it is excellent! Thank you for posting this! As an aside, I have memories of watching the Prague Spring on television when I was eight. Watching the news today, I'm getting a foreboding sense of deja-vu . . . .
Dear David; you are also my favorite scale modeller; for the last 1-2 years I am always expecting your new videos; their quality is steadily increasing and I also appreciate it putting them in historical context. It is always joy and inspiration to watch them! Thank you!
Zdaleka nejlepší připomínka toho smutného výročí, kterou jsem letos zaregistroval. Nemluvě o vašem modelářském umu jehož jsem velkým fandou. jen tak dál.
My grandfather used to visit Czechoslovakia for work purposes and he always told us that Prague and other parts of the country were great and peaceful until Soviet invasion, now he passed away but his antique souvenirs are still awesome stuff to look at
My grandfather used to visit Czechoslovakia for annihilating f**king European Nazism purposes. And unfortunately we must do it again soon cause there're a lot of morons like you whose talking something wrong. This is just our fate dude.
@@dimctpuir2358 If you are talking about my profile picture that is just for shits and giggles and If I triggered you I am sorry I didn't mean to do that
Hi David, Awesome work young man. I'm from Czech rep. as well, now living in New Zealand. You have a real talent. This diorama really resonates with me.I wish I could come up with this idea.Well done. Regards PAvel
There's an exhibition on right now in Prague, in the Old Town Hall, that features photographs of the August 21st occupation and other events following. It's really interesting, and I would recommend checking it out.
Awsome makett again, with imaginatieve details like the sodden map, the stonewalls texture, and the atmosphere of diorama is really good. Yeah, and the music is really nice again!
Great diorama! I was stationed in West Germany, Bamberg, in southern Bavaria on that day. I was a U.S. Army, M-60 tank crewman with C Company. 3rd Battalion, 35th Armored Regiment. We were put on alert and spent the whole day in our alert hides in the forest, waiting to see if the Russians would cross the border and start WW III. Glad you are free now!
Beautiful work and some beautiful music to complement it, it's nice to have some chilled, easy going music instead of some thump, thump stuff that spoils your concentration... Please keep up with the great work Sir... Many thanks... John...
Velice pěkná dioráma, která, navzdory měřítku, vypráví svůj příběh zcela skvěle. Zvlášť se mi líbí model Velorexu. Sám jsem o něm doteď nevěděl a dostávám velkou chuť si ho postavit v "džínovém" provedení.
Awesome work, mate. Just returned from Liberec where I saw the monument with the tank tracks at the townhall building commemorating the fallen citizens and to the right the houses where that Red army tank crashed into. That gave me some goosebumps.
Very nice diorama David! I also like your choice of music on this one. Personally, I think it works better than some of the more 'orchestral' pieces that you've used in the past. I find it blends better with the dialogue Saluti! :-)
Respect and my appreciation for your very well done diorama! A sad historical theme - very well realized! Ať mír dál zůstává s touto krajinou. Best greetings from Germany, JOST
Great work and video! Want to do something similar for Berlin in 1953, Budapest in 1956 and Prague in 1968....or possibly Brno, as my dad has friend who lives there....
Another well done diorama.👍 I too remember the Russian invasion. I was in (old) West Germany and my U.S.Army unit was on a "heightened state of readiness" status for several days, as we tensely waited to see how it would all play out.
When you paint something u use some sort of putty and attach it to a stick Where do u get that putty And is testers model glue as good as mr cement? Thanks
Dear David, awesome Diorama, great work! The Tank seems to be a little to clean. The threeweeld Car is cute. Who is the manufactorer, where could this model be bought?
