This video shows you how to disassemble and repair your Beer Tender. There is also a link to a blog that covers some power supply repairs. For the blog search "Low Quality Goods: T-Fal beer" and it should be near the top searches.
If this video, the beer was not room temp, but HOT. The fan had quit working, so I removed it and lubricated the shaft and sleeve bearings.
The power supplies seem to fail capacitors, they can be ordered from Digi-Key for less than $5 and removed and replaced with a soldering iron. Some people have just replaced the power supply with 12v units from Amazon.
Good Luck

Thanks man! Still trying to get mine working again, but this definitely helped.

Power issue? Trash the AC board and get a 12v 2a printer power supply from Amazon. On PC board two connections for pos ans two for neg. Cut off adapter tip. Remove cleat for winding power cord (1 tab each side inside) then sleeve the AC adapter cable thru a hole and tie a knot leaving length. Then strip wires, braid each wire to have twin braids each. Solder tin then insert into each hole on connector. Good to go for $20. PS Fan? Runner tips break, remove all, clean blades and use two sheet metal screws all the way thru holes to housing as it self taps. Ready to go. As I got the item for $15 at thrift store I’m ahead of the game.

I faced a similar problem with the power supply. It could only give 7.5V. After some reading I discovered that many people have faced this problem. I decided to "upgrade" the power supply and replaced it with an old PC power supply (PSU) 150W that I had sitting around. After all the relevant connections, I screwed the PSU unit at the back cover and it works perfectly. Hopefully it will last longer than the original part.

My fan seemed to need lubrication, and the power supply dies again. I found a 60W (12VDC, 5A) unit on Amazon that is supposed to power LEDs for $10. It would not fit inside, so it looks like a laptop charger. It is currently powering my Beer Tender. It does get warmer than I would like (notice I used the word "warm" not "hot". I tried some smaller 12V supplies, and they were getting too hot for my comfort. The one I bought has a "CE" stamp, so I hope it is safe. This was last week, so I am monitoring it closely to assess whether I think it is safe. I need to look for a PC fan that will fit since the fan sucks too.

@@teesalmon Did you hard wire rhe fan only or did you tap into the thermostat display board too?
@teesalmon

@@flotilla9-4franklinlockpao51 I can't remember, but I would ave tried to keep it "original'. The fan does not need to run all the time, but they are low power and it wouldn't hurt. Unfortunately, i don't have this any longer or I would check for you.

Great help. Have gone through a couple of these. After watching your video I decided to take it apart. Following your instructions, got the board out and voila, blown capacitor. I don't have the skill or tools to replace the capacitor but found a local shop to repair it. $6.61 later, I got it put back together and good to go, more cold beer. Thank.

What kind of shop did you take it to? I’m realizing I don’t have the necessary skills either...

Hey man! My beertender just stopped working.. I am checking the power supply and I don’t think there’s power coming out of it. What could it be?

Check the voltage with a voltmeter. I actually bought a power supply that looked like a laptop charger on eBay and stuffed in inside. Just make sure it have the correct voltage and enough amperage. You could also leave the power supply external.

what is the fuse rated? 12v?

Hey, I was wondering if this fan is suppose to be running the BeerTender is powered on? I haven't noticed until tonight that it doesn't seem that my beer is cold, however, it doesn't look like my fan is spinning. So, the question is : is the fan suppose to always be on? Thanks
@teesalmon
@teesalmon 8 лет назад
Yes the fan should run. The bearings can go bad. If u are careful you can take apart the fan and lube the bearings for medium term fix. You might also purchase a cheap pc fan at micro center. Note I had to wire tie mine in place, and vibration noise might be an issue you will need to solve.

Thank for the video. Quick question, about how fast should the fan be turning? My fan is turning, the coils are up to 99 degrees but the inside doesn't seem to be cooling down. Any thought or experience? I haven't lubed the fan yet.

You should be able to feel a little airflow out of the side vents. The fan is fairly quiet. as long as it is spinning freely and not making noise you are probably OK. It can take hours to get the temp to the target. If the heat sink is 99 degrees, then you are transferring heat as long as the surroundings are less than 99. If the fan totally fails, the beer will actually get warmed.

HI, Enjoyed your video, I have a beertender B95 that is not cooling either. Display works, fan works, no (apparent) blown capacitors, but no cooling. Plate under the fan is actually cool. Inside is room-temp. Any other thoughts or suggestions?

I have a friend that has a more practical knowledge of thermoelectric cooling I can discuss this with. However, the beer tender is a thermoelectric device. These devices can move heat in either direction depending on the polarity of the voltage. I believe there are two wires going to the thermoelectric cooling chip. I would make sure the chip is getting voltage. I don't know how to check the chip, but I suppose it could have failed. I don't know if this is rare or common. These chips can be purchased, but I have not tried to determine how they are mounted to the beer tender and how they are bonded to the aluminum plate which is basically a heat sink. Heat is moved from the beer side of the chip, to the heat sink (aluminum plate) side. If the fan were not there to remove the heat from the heat sink, the cooling effect is reduced until the point where everything gets hot including the beer. The chips are relatively inexpensive (less than $10).

Thanks for the video. What type of capacitor did you get? I think that's my problem, but I can't find the same exactly ones.... First time trying to fix a mini Keg and I am lost!!!
@teesalmon
@teesalmon 3 года назад
There should be a capacitor value on the side, just order one of similar size from Digi-Key or eBay. Probably not super critical if the match is exact.

Is there a schematic anywhere?

As I said in another comment, I don't have this any longer. However, I seem to remember that the large circuit board was basically a power supply, and the thermoelectric heat pump or cooler is simply switched on or off with 12volts. So the only thing complicated is the power supply. If that is not a blown/swollen capacitor I would just change the entire power supply. In terms of current on the 12V side, i would use a 10Amp fuse. You could probably try 5A, but after a quick look, some of those thermoelectric devices might draw close to 6A, so that is why I would try a 10A.
