T-Mobile - More Coverage, More Capacity: New 5G Band n25 & 3x Carrier Aggregation

T-Mobile's 1900 MHz 5G band n25 adds new capacity and coverage to T-Mobile's network and increases its lead over Verizon and AT&T in bringing 5G technologies to market.
Band n25 utilizes spectrum from T-Mobile's 3G network and Sprint's LTE network, both of which were shut down this year.
T-Mobile is now also enabling 3x 5G carrier aggregation, allowing multiple 5G bands to be combined for faster and more reliable connections.

1. I hope you can help me clarify this question. To clarify, I have a fundamental question that relates to Dual Connectivity i.e. N-DC refers to the dual connection of 4G wireless access network and 5G NR. I am asking you as I have attended and subscribed to Award Solutions webinars in the past. 2. Let’s say that we are using Band-X in 4G and another similar band in 5G and are attempting to communicate with both RATs to take advantage of EN-DC. 3. The question is what will happen if there is overlap in terms of the “spectrum occupied”. 4. Let’s say that the 4G component has been assigned spectrum in Band 3 from 1830 MHz through to 1850 MHz (i.e. a chunk of 20 MHz Bandwidth). 5. Let’s say that the 5G component has been assigned spectrum in Band n3 from 1820.45 MHz through to 1830.45 MHz (i.e. a chunk of 10 MHz Bandwidth). 6. In such a scenario, there is an overlap of 450 KHz between these two components i.e. the assigned 5G-NR band component eats into the 4g spectrum component by 450 KHz. 7. Will such a deployment work in light of the designated configuration based on existing product implementations? There are bound to be issues in decoding such transmissions at the UE because of the overlap in the spectrum. The reason, I am asking this question was because an argument (however erroneous) can be made that the 5G transmissions would potentially be orthogonal to the 4G transmissions (even if they have an SCS of 15 kHz or 30 kHz) and hence the decoding at the mobile will work because orthogonality will prevent any decoding issues. I do not agree with this argument i.e. that the orthogonality provided by the OFDM structure of the waveforms would protect them against each other (i.e. from the UE perspective in the sense that the UE can successfully decode the two transmissions). I would be very grateful if you could enlighten me with your perspective with references (if applicable). 8. If the answer is in the negative, from an R&D implementation, perspective - what changes would one need to implement to make such a configuration (i.e. characterized by overlapping assigned spectrums) workable in realistic network implementations? 9. It would also be immensely helpful if you could further substantiate your arguments with references from the relevant 3GPP specifications (or other relevant specifications) or draw my attention to any specific specifications or publications which can further clarify my doubt?
@MobileInternetResourceCenter
4G and 5G are not deployed on overlapping spectrum in the same location, other than via Dynamic Spectrum Sharing. I do think your questions are intended for an RF engineering forum - not this channel focused on general consumers.

The most recent T-Mobile Home Internet router's spec sheet says that it supports the n25 band. No word on carrier aggregation. From the UI it seems to pick strongest signal.

I live out in the middle of nowhere in Amish country and, until T-Mobile, was a slave to the local cable provider that serviced our area. Honestly, we felt pretty lucky to have cable service out here at all... Although I've been streaming for a decade. I've been using their 5G internet gateway for several months and I'm pretty impressed with the service. I don't need scorching fast speeds and the 200 Mbs down and 30 Mbs is faster than I was getting on cable for $30 a month. Literally the cheapest internet I've ever had.

Currently running the beta version of 16.4 on the iPhone 14 Pro Max and it's running 5G standalone (double checked in field test mode) and as of now I'm getting Band 25. It isn't much faster than B41 w/ an aggregated dl bw @ 100. Not complaining though, our speeds range wildly from 200Mbps down to 800Mbps down.

I've been able to connect to N25 on my OnePlus 9 pro it's actually pretty good above 100mbps with like 3x or 4x aggregation not sure why they say it's limited to the S22
@MobileInternetResourceCenter
3x 5G carrier aggregation requires the X65 modem, and has only been enabled for the S22 so far. Some older devices can connect to n25, but can not combine it with other 5G bands.

I am able to use this already. I live nearly 6 miles from the nearest tower. I’m on the iPhone 13 Pro Max. I got the 5G stand-alone update, and there’s definitely a difference. Before I got 5G stand-alone, my speeds were roughly around 200mbps on average, now I get 800mbps on average. With me being 6 miles away, that’s just nuts! They’re definitely heading in the right direction. Edit: my average signal I get is 2/4 bars (50%)

I have a question I have been having difficulty finding an answer to. I use an S22 Ultra on Tmobile. Considering a new Inseego mifi x hotspot. S22 has qualcomm x65 chip, and Inseego X62. Question is: Will the hotspot get better reception than my S22Ultra? Or is it the same? (Same question for the upcoming x65 carrier agnostic version please!!). Mostly unrelated to this video topic, but also considering the 3 channel banding. My primary use case is distance like the n71 band. I could use the other benefits of a hotspot. But really need to know if the reception is different from devices with the same modem, or if they are also the same antenna. (Also, I may get an S23 which is rumored to have the n70 chip). Thank you in advance I really appreciate your channel!
@MobileInternetResourceCenter
There are many pros and cons of hotspots versus smartphones for actual use - www.rvmobileinternet.com/cellular-devices. Hotspots and smartphones when of similar modem, tend to perform fairly equivalently - but keep in mind, a hotspot delivers its connection over Wi-Fi so there is some slow down there. A smartphone can use data on device.
