Hello and welcome back to my channel! My name is Beatrice, and today I bring you a video on the 20th century poet T. S. Eliot, in particular on his sequence of poems called Four Quartets. I hope you enjoy!
Book mentioned about Eliot and his Anglo-Catholicism:
Anglo-Catholic in Religion by Barry Spurr
Link to the entire collection of letters that Eliot sent to long-time friend Emily Hale:

If you're interested in Eliot's relationship with Emily Hale, and what it reveals about him as a poet, Lyndall Gordon has a new book out on this called The Hyacinth Girl.

Oh yes! Beautiful! Eliot is so profound and I thank you for illuminating his work.

You know, the Psalms have been such a rock in my prayer life. Music has been as well. However, I have not taken to poetry, oddly enough, until recently. Thank you for this topic and educating us on TS Elliot.

Thanks for this! That connection between poetry and prayer (and sacrament) is so important and risks being forgotten. Great channel! Subscribed ~

I've never been a fan of obscure modernist poetry. But those poets are often important Christian artists. Besides Eliot, I think of David Jones, the London born (Welsh inspired) Catholic poet. He has the most profound, imaginative ( and spiritual) gift. But it's very hard to get at his poetry.

Oh gosh Beatrice, at my Catholic university (Univ of Dallas in 1977), all freshmen were required to write a term paper on The Wasteland. This was called the “waste paper” of course. I don’t think I had ever been so miserable as when I was hitting my head against Eliot. Hopefully your video will help me to not find him disagreeable. Maybe. But I make no promises.

You've convinced me! I didn't intend to read him, but now I'll give him a try.

Thanks for doing this video!
