T-tube nursing care review about the nurse's role regarding the care of the biliary drain.
A t-tube is placed in the common bile duct to help drain bile from the liver.
It is sometimes placed after a cholecystectomy, common bile duct (CBD) exploration, or liver transplant.
It will serve as a drain to drain excessive bile from the liver until the common bile duct is healed.
It can also be used for testing where dye is injected into the t-tube and an x-ray is taken (cholangiogram) to assess the biliary tree and duct (see the picture in the video to see this example).
