World Rugby has launched T1 Rugby, the world’s first non-contact sport that fully reflects the unique characteristics of rugby, including scrums, lineouts and breakdown.
With an emphasis on fun, fitness, inclusion and time optimisation, T1 Rugby is a game for everyone, played by anyone.
It provides a fun, welcoming, time efficient and safe environment for people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds, reflecting the international federation’s mission of a global sport for all.
Significantly, it is the first non-contact form of the game that reflects the characteristics of rugby, including lineouts, scrums, kicking and a breakdown, while remaining simple to play. It contains many of the attacking and defending aspects of rugby, requiring players to make the same decisions.
Asia Rugby is the Regional Association of World Rugby, the governing body for the global Game.

This is touch rugby and it's already a sport in NZ and Australia but the game we play is more like rugby league rather than rugby union and is more simple. It's fast down here bro fr.

Yeah, I can't see this taking off tbh - defo not an improvement over classic touch, which is actually a hell of a game!

I mean this is just a demo video of people who probably aren’t used to being in front of cameras, going slow to demonstrate, with peeps who aren’t exactly athletic looking. It is done in this way to make the sport look less intimidating when watching the intro vid. I’m not sure how this format will do but union needs to experiment with the concept as touch being a league clone (just without tackles) is kind of an issue for the development of union players and getting kids introduced to specifically union concepts/skills w/out contact. I don’t think this is the silver bullet for world rugby to have both touch and union at the same time but I think, over a while, the players will take to it and give feedback on how to improve it.
