i remember when i was younger, whenever i watched toad stands by, when james says "oh my goodness!" my mom would always say: is he a fancy engine or something??

“Spills and Chills” is what got me into TTTE. “Toby’s Discovery”: I loved Bertram. He was one of my favorite Wooden Railway trains. “Rusty and the Boulder”: I couldn’t watch that episode forever. I was scarred from that face. And that crash at the end... “Duncan Gets Spooked”: Once again, amazing crash. The Old Iron Bridge is my favorite landscape on the entire island. “Stepney Gets Lost”: Amazing visuals. I always loved the graphics at the scrapyard. “Haunted Henry”: Scared me. That crash felt so mysterious for some odd reason. That boxcar gave me bad vibes...
Nice list T1E2H3! Here are some of my favorite episodes: 20. Rusty helps peter sam 19. Dunkin Duncan 18. Stepney gets lost 17. Old iron 16. Tit for tat, Mike's whistle and useful railway 15. Peace and quiet 14. Sir topham hatts holiday 13. Toby and the stout gentleman 12. Rusty and the boulder 11. Thomas and the jet engine 10. Pop goes the diesel 9. All at sea 8. The great little railway show 7. Ghost train 6. Escape 5. Rusty to the rescue 4. Granpuff and sleeping beauty 3. Gordon and spencer 2. Duncan gets spooked Honorable mentions: Oliver owns up, The runaway elephant, You can't win, Cautios Connor, Twin trouble, Thomas and Percy's mountain adventure, Thomas, Percy and the post train, Saltys secret, and Off the rails. 1. Gallant old engine
I should also point out in Hero of The Rails, Gordon's character development is the best. He goes from an arrogant pompous sour head to a true care bear nut who absolutely takes no CIT. Especially from Spencer. Golly, it's amazing and lovable how Gordon sticks up for Thomas whenever Spencer is causing Thomas grief.
Oliver was actually the biggest bad ass in that episode he actually inspired me to stand up for myself because I have disabilities and I don’t take shit from anyone. So thank you Oliver
That truck from haunted Henry and appeared in my face scared the living heck out of me cause I got scared of it when I was 6. How did this get 13 likes??
"Spills and Chills" really got me. I had a few nightmares with the Duncan Gets Spooked and Haunted Henry episodes. But its special to me as it is the only TTTE VHS tape that was in special Thomas blue plastic, and I loved Rusty and the Boulder, silly as it was. "We should have left this part of the island...... alone." Brrr....... Great list! All my favorites are there too and I love to hear your reviews as much as your episodes. Can't wait to see your second part
Thomas1Edward2Henry3 I don't think so but it has been a while. The first time I saw it was on a rented VHS of Stuart Little, which made me lose my shit as a kid. XD
10:46 Well, Scruffy was also ripped apart, but he was still alive and even rebuilt. But then again, the brake van never appeared in the series after this, so it's hard to say. I guess it's up to our imaginations...
Funny thing about Henry being bricked up, the episode that he appeared in for the first time was actually based on something that was many years back here in america because it didn't happen in the UK, an engine was bricked up, and think about it, the Rev. W. Awdry must have been inspired by the event when he wrote the story, it actually made sense to me, I didn't even know this until several weeks back.
I remember the Ringo Starr version of come out Henry and Henry to the rescue, but somewhere down the line, I did come across the George Carlin version of both episodes, unfortunately I can't remember which VHS I had it on.
When I was a kid, Rusty & The Boulder scared my balls off, now that I'm older, Rusty & The Boulder is now balls to wall laughter for me and everytime I see the shed explosion in the end of it, I always yell "MICHAEL BAY!!!"
I always loved Thomas and the jet engine because it always got me (in the uk dub) when Michael angels says Thomas's line "hi Gordon, bye Gordon" in a scouce accent
"A Better View for Gordon" and "Busy Going Backwards" were the funniest episodes, especially Busy Going Backwards. From the minute Toad broke lose from Oliver all the way up to when he was stopped by the muddy pond, I was laughing my hind end off the entire time! And Alec Baldwin's voice for Gordon is hilarious!
What I hate about the controversy behind "The Sad Story of Henry" is people doing lack of research. The way the general public assumes the fact Sir Topham Hatt just left Henry in the tunnel forever all because Henry refused to come out of the tunnel due to him not letting his paint get wet in the rain, even though Henry was being stubborn even after the rain had stopped. Some people never think before they jump to conclusions, or for that matter, some people never do their research before jumping to conclusions. Stupid public.
I have about three to four favorite episodes ranging from Season 5 (Love Alec Baldwin's voice work in Season 5) those happen to be "Busy going backwards," "Haunted Henry," "Toby and the Flood" and "A better view for Gordon."
I never really understood why "Henry and the Elephant" wasn't adapted in Season 1, either. Also, "Rusty and the Boulder" is one of my favorites from Season 5, particularly the scene where Boulder destroys that shed.
Funny thing, The New York Central railroad took a diesel Budd railcar, streamlined the front, and put two jet engines on top. It was called, "Pride Of The Central". I believe the jet engine episode is based or is a refrence to it.
I always watched my Thomas Gets Tricked DVD when I was younger, and Come Out Henry was definitely one of my favorite episodes. I also watched a a lot of the 6th Season Episodes with episodes like Dunkin Duncan, Twin Trouble, and the episodes with the Pack. So much nostalgia.
My favorite Duncan episode I can't recall the name but Duncan was grumpy and fell of the track and was lifted back on the track by the passengers always found that a bit strange tho
From what the wikia says for Season 6 and Season 7, Britt was a creative consultant on those Seasons but that's it. Given its a fanmade wiki, it might be not entirely true but at least gives us some relief she still had some involvement with the series
I say Seasons 5-7 would have had more of a Seasons 3-4 feeling as Season 5 was made how it was because Britt wanted to make a TTTE movie which would become TATMRR. I also say those seasons would have retained the reflective look of the models from Seasons 3-5 if it wasn't for TATMRR as the models were refurbished for the big screen and just happened to keep the new look for Seasons 6-12.
So the power went out at my house so unless it comes back on soon part 2 will have to wait until a week from today because I'm going on vacation tomorrow :/
20 fish season 4 19 Tobys discovery season 5 18 snow season 5 17 Thomas to the rescue season 8 16 haunted Henry season 5 15 a scarf for Percy season 3 14 Thomas Percy and the coal double trouble season 2 13 cows a cow on the line 12 keeping up with James season 9 11 off the rails season 1 10 Henry and the elephant season
T1E2H3, this video here was one of- if not THE- the very first adult Thomas fan YT video I ever watched in 2018. YOU are responsible for introducing me to a fanbase I didn’t know I wanted to be part of. And I’m darn proud to be a member of this fandom. So much so that I’m writing a book that uses S1-S5 episodes to illustrate why the mainstream opinion of Thomas as a “stupid baby show” is misinformed, at least with the classic series. Thank you for introducing me to the fandom
what about Haunted Henry? Anyway in order of best actors I think it goes George Carlin, Alec Baldwin, RIngo Star (I love the beatles), and Michael Brandon
Interesting fact: "Henry and the Elephant" is the first time Henry's tunnel is seen since season 1 "James and the Coaches". I thought it might have been mentioned, but I'm a trivia buff. Awesome list. If these are 20-10, can't wait to see what tops your list. And I prefer the UK narration because it is what I grew up with, so I think that is always going to be "each to his own". Still, excellent list.
Rusty and the boulder is indeed a good episode, I remember being scared of boulder, for some reason he gave me the creeps, the face only made it worse! 🤔😂
I agree with everything you have said so far, from George Carlin being good with voicing Donald and Douglas to Alec Baldwin being good with Bill and Ben! not to mention how funny the episode with toad going forwards instead of backwards and the one with the jet engine! I have seen it all! Finding review so far and very entertaining!
8:17 since the classic series Engine's dont use RC to move the engine, they use electricity from the rails to move the engine, and when the rails were disconnected.. The electricity's gone and no more power to move the engine. And that's the same case why Toby just wait until the bridge is started to collapse from its position
I was looking through some old dvds and VHS stuff and I found a whole bunch of Thomas stuff. One of them was Thomas and the Jet Engine. I was so happy! I open it, no disk >:(

4:50 I sure as hell don't disagree! It's a pity that Alec put so much less effort into voicing the different characters in S6 - his work in S5 is part of why it's probably my second-favorite season behind S2.
Arry and Bert scared me so much when I first saw stepney gets lost. Also, why did they ever show up again? In this episode they very nearly got away with what's technically considered murder to steam engines. shouldn't they have at least got sent away or something?
One of my episodes when I was 5 or 6ish was Something Fishy from S7 I could never get over Thomas falling off the dock. My brother and I were eating lunch and watching T&F with the episode playing my brother and I literally SCREAMED at our dad to hurry up so he could se Thomas fall of the dock too XD. a few other episodes I love are Something in the Air, Fish (S4), The episode with Gordon saying branch lines are vulgar, Gordon Takes a Tumble, for CGI my top episode is Love me Tender and so on I have A LOT OF FAVORITE EPISODES!!!!, I'm very grateful to still have all my Thomas toys (wooden railway, tomy, take and play, etc) and I used to have a couple Railway Series books, the stories were Percy Runs Away and Percy and Harold and I think I still have my dvds.... ok ok enough!
My opinions on your list: 20. I remember when I first heard of The Sad Story Of Henry and I was like "wow, they'd actually brick an engine up in a tunnel?" and now that I've rewatched this a few times, I admit that Henry's first few stories were very depressing and made me feel sorry for him. Apparently when Awdry showed the original RWS story for the show, it needed a happy ending or it wouldn't be deemed suitable for children. That sets up the second part (Edward, Gordon & Henry) where we finally get Henry freed from the tunnel... all because Gordon burst a safety valve and Henry was the only one who could save the day. And of course, never forget that line - "once an engine attached to a train, was afraid of a few drops of rain". 19. And we get to one of many Season 5 episodes in your list. I really need to watch some of Bill & Ben's episodes since I feel I never pay much attention to them, but they are funny and there's some good moments here. Shame we'll likely never see BoCo again anytime soon... he was a very enjoyable character. 18. Definitely a highlight of Season 5, and even more because I laugh at Gordon when he's pompous and cares only about how special he is. Gordon's crash is so funny, especially in that we see his front wheels coming off. Being based on a similar real-life accident in Paris was also something that surprised me. 17. I really need to watch more Oliver & Toad focus episodes, since I feel Oliver gets a lot of good character development. The scene of S.C. Ruffey breaking apart showed a very rare case of a character actually being ripped to death was what I'd consider gruesome for a show aimed at young kids, but it's what you get if you are mean to Oliver so well deserved. 16. Another Henry-focused episode, and a good one at that. Seeing the moment where Henry confronts the elephant was both surprising and shocking, especially when Henry mentioned at the start that he is no longer scared of getting wet (aka the rain) but that elephant squirting him definitely made him feel uncomfortable. I totally felt sorry for you once again, Henry. 15. I remember this episode giving me chills as a kid, since while Toby was close to being swept away, he was also being a real hero when that dam broke. Season 5 knew how to make intense episodes that feel enjoyable to watch, thanks to those more mature plots. 14. Yay our fave Scottish twin engine duo! I love Donald and Douglas, since not only they have those obvious bagpipes in their theme music, and the way Douglas smashes that Spiteful Brake Van was a badass moment showing that if you treat him like shit, he'll give you a real smacking. The Deputation was a nice episode too, especially when the twins were worried about getting scrapped. 13. Ah yes, one of the most controversial Season 5 episodes, but I feel it's very intriguing. Rusty getting the spotlight was a nice change of pace, since he's one of the friendlier faces of the Narrow Gauge cast. Seeing that depressed Gordon face on the boulder also left me feeling a mysterious vibe. The shed near Percy exploding was a nice effect to watch as well. 12. Another one I need to watch at some point, especially considering how it's such a scary episode. Stepney was close to being scrapped before, so you could imagine how terrifying his moments in the episodes were, along with Arry and Bert having a real antagonistic role. A well-done example of the series' dark moments for sure. 11. Toad getting a spotlight role here was fun, and definitely makes me agree with your reasoning on liking both him and Oliver. I always love a good chase scene with the Troublesome Trucks, especially when you have a good piece of music accompanying it. The humour gets some praise as well. 10. I remember watching this one as a kid, and while people viewed Season 6 as a mediocre season, I still found some episodes funny at times. The plot idea with this one may have broken railway realism but I don't mind realism being broken if it's for the purpose of comedy. Thomas saying he was sorry for "overtaking" Gordon was hilarious as well, and I also love how Thomas' line "Hi Gordon! Bye Gordon!" got a nice nod in the Season 20 episode Henry Gets The Express (a very funny episode btw) when Henry says it after he passes Gordon. This was when Thomas comedy started to get good.
Well, Scruffy didn't die in the TV version of that episode. He was rebuilt and was more behaved. In RWS he was scrapped after being ripped apart. Good breakdown of each episode on this list
I find it interesting that The Sad Story of Henry and Edward, Gordon and Henry used to be very rare episodes for US audiences, because I do vaguely remember watching them on Sprout as a kid. During the 2000s, Sprout would air the classic era episodes while its sister channel PBS played the newer episodes. Sprout was where I saw episodes like Thomas' Train, Donald's Duck, Duncan Gets Spooked, and Heroes among others.
I love this I grew up with the spills and chills VHS but can't find it anymore sadly so I might as well buy a new one what else oh yeah I'm just wondering when scruffy was pulled apart was he taxidermy or is he still alive same with the spiteful brakevan also some my favorite episodes are Dunkin Duncan, the spotless record, Toby & the flood, worlds strongest engine, a close shave for duck, horrid lorries, put upon Percy, gallant old engine, steamroller, grand puff, Percy's chocolate crunch & middle engine
I also love the Spills and Chills DVD/VHS because of the episodes and the amazing song Night Train. It was my favorite DVD and then I sadly lost it and It really made me sad.
@@lennoxschannel7484 lmao I don’t remember. But I was probably talking about Better late than never or something like that because that was my favorite episode at the time. However Rusty and the Boulder will always be one of my all time favorites
Hey, Its The BronySpartanLazer , I love your videos and still love your videos man. Good job. My favorite episodes were Haunted Henry, Duncan Gets Spooked, Snow Engine, 4 Little Engines, Old Faithful, and Whistles and Sneezes.
I had two younger cousins when Spills & Chills was released (they were 2 and 3 at the time). I had introduced them to Thomas and they loved it, but they refused to watch half the episodes on that tape. I specifically remember my younger cousin being TERRIFIED at Rusty and the Boulder (we'd have to fast-forward the episode whenever we watched the tape). I haven't seen that episode in about 20 years, but yeah, that's a pretty frightening episode.
10. Break Van 9. The Sad Story of Henry 8. Old Iron 7. A Close Shave 6.The Dieasel 5. Toad Stands By 4. Edward's Exploit 3. Granpuff 2. The Flying Kipper 1. Escape My top ten favorite Thomas episodes
20. Knew you'd put this on there 19. Amazing episode bittersweet though because bocos last appearence 18. Love this episode 17. Really great episode 16. Knew this one would be on here though the elephant prop could've delayed it 15. This episode scared me as a kid but I still love how intense this is 14. YES YES YES I am happy they are back yeah I agree with you on the Alec and George voices for the different sets of twins still waiting for that episode to involve both sets of twins I don't care how many years I'll wait 13. I love this my first vhs was spills and chills and a lot of those are my favorite season 5 episodes 12. Scary episode but holy crap this episode was good spills and chills was my favorite Thomas vhs/DVD too 11. Another great episode I used to run around the room when this episode played on the vhs 10. I really like this episode also though I don't love it as much as you and unlucky tug
2017 Legend 1-6 Scale 1. Hated It 2. Disliked It 3. Neutral 4. Liked it 5. Loved It 6. One Of The Best Episodes Ever 20. 4 19. 4 18. 3 17. 5 16. 4 15. 4- For some reason I don't like episodes starring Toby that much for some reason. 14. 6 13. I rarely watch episodes with the Narrow Gauge engines for some reason so I can't rate it. 12. I didn't watch that for some reason. 11. 6 10. 4
2:26 I thought at least one of the two would've been in the 20 episode multi-season sets! 3:56 The smoke and noise does sound like such! 4:02 Let us hope he returns in JBS! 4:37 I have that picture hanging on my bedroom wall! 5:04 I like Baldwin's Gordon voice too! it's a big voice for a big engine! 6:48 probably because making the elephant would be too hard, and they had to make extra circus trucks! 7:24 I had that VHS tape, and it was one of my favorites, until I had my vHS player and tapes sold in 2015! 10:18 mine too! Donald was one of my first Take Alongs! 10:56 woooah! 11:50 I used to think the face was carved on!
Yeah. I really do find it a shame they never brought Derek back for more episodes. Could've easily made for an interesting dynamic between him and someone like Henry, given his own issues. Heck, with the main problem being his cooling system, I could imagine there being something that involved him forcing himself so hard, in order to help one of the engines in some way, that he completely blew out his engine, and they had to figure out a way to modify his cooling system.
Well and me and your dad have a lot in common! I adore the Sad Story of Henry and I always thought when I was that Clayton Tunnel was the tunnel Henry was walled up in. For those who don't know, Clayton Tunnel is an infamous Tunnel on the Brighton-London Mainline for its devastating crash and it being the inspiration for Charles Dickens' "The Signalman"
