The task of this world is to form a self concept that is adjusted to the world. In this process we form a separate self. To end this separation is to relinquish our false self. This loss of self is viewed fearfully, and this fear is then projected onto God. The feeling is that by uniting with God, I will sacrifice my investment is a little self, which was symbolized as the body. All this fear and confusion evokes defensiveness, and hinders our journey home. How then are we to close the gap between illusions and the truth? That is what we’ll look at in this session.
