Hey Hera. Big time T90 fan, discovering you are actually a top tier caster. Enjoying your casting content! Helped me finally get some wins with archers when you explained how important stand ground is, and how important mixing in halb is!
Mic setup is perfect! It does sound like you've added a compressor and limiter and a sidechain, but if you have not - you can min-max your mic even further. Compressor brings out more details in your voice, limiter makes it so that when you scream twitch chat does not get a heart attack and sidechain lowers the volume of the game/music when you talk and bring it back up when you're mute.
That’s why you never buy entry level used BMWs. They are cheap because poor people buy them as a status symbol but couldn’t afford any of the maintenance
Love watching you cast. Watching your gameplay is awesome but your breakdown during casting is really informative for a newbie like me. I hope you might do some more of this, even a series or something where you breakdown matches for timings and what optimal decisions could have been would be incredible
Hey Hera, just some small feedback on your mic on top of your great commentary: It sounds like your mic is slightly clipping / too hot. You might want to look into using a limiter to keep the loudness but avoid the clipping artifacts. This is easy to do in edit, but pretty hard when you want to stream with that ig. (Depending on your interface, this might be built in, or you could use ASIO - there are OBS plugins for that too - then you can also EQ your voice to really sound like a radio presenter 😜.)
There is, however, something weird with the microphone setting. It looks like it has either sensitivity gain at max or something else is going on. But your (relatively) louder speech sounds become slightly distorted at their peaks. You can try to record some speech in Audacity and see whether you're not going off the scale / to the "red".
It would be kinda cool to see u follow a lower elo player over a few games so we can see what progression it looks like to play and get better at that level.
I was wondering at the start of the video if your voice just got deeper. 😅 Come to realize after you mention that you got a new mic that is must be picking up more of your lower range. 😂 Hera, your voice sounds so much more powerful now!
Hera is best right now because he has always been community first. Always talking to his followers and viewers. Coaching everyone up. You just can’t find any negatives except his extreme hate for dravidians 🎉
Congrats on the SM7b! Could you lower the compression (do this by increasing the threshold, decreasing the ratio) and reduce the upper mids? Sounding a bit compressed and harsh. Not a mic problem, more software, but mic placement can help too. Love your videos man!
Yeah, bit much around 1k and also a bit more "air" (like 16k and above) would be nice. But I also thought that it's an unusual placement of the SM7b. Usually you'd get very close to it. When Viper changed to the SM7b I think he didn't do it to improve his sound but to get better rejection of noises from further away. Like, maybe you noticed that ever since he changed mics you wouldn't hear anymore what Debbie was saying to him if she asked him something on stream. I'm just saying this to highlight how much the sound of the mic will change by altering the distance between you and the SM7b. Generally, I appreciate the effort and do think it already sounds good :)
I am glad that you have slowed down your commentary in order for us to understand what is said. Thanks, enjoyed it. Why would T90 not place his mill to the left side of the berries and then use it for the wall?? Why not use all the buildings for walls?? Are there any public opinions for the "woodchopper/farmer" ratios for individual civs?? T90 could have kept his onogers and bows at the first castle and drawed the opposition into the castle fire.
thanks for the cast. T90 seems very indecisive this game probably due to a lack of scouting/knowledge of what the opponent is doing. Agree its strange with the timings on the SW, TCs and Uni
17:30 I was wondering why the mango went down there even though it was out of range. Then I realized the CaptureAge isn't showing castle range for some reason. Pls fix it.
I really enjoy Hera's casts. He notices small details that others don't -- bits of poor micro, the aborted rush for balistics, castle positioning issues, etc. The cast feels more salient for a higher level audience. I'd love to see some breakdowns like this of tournament games, especially from slightly more off-meta players. Tatoh and Yo are always exciting, for instance.
Since you mentioned. The mic is a massive improvement but I think still could be better. It still sounds a bit "recorded", doesn't sound quite as natural and silky as I think it could. Love the investment you're making in your production quality, makes the videos so much better. Considering that T90 has the highest prod quality of any AOE2 caster, this is stacking up pretty well. I would like to see a better overlay. I like seeing chat!
Jet lag tip from someone who travels for work: arrive the day before and use the hotel gym to do a big workout, and then eat a good meal afterwards, to align your circadian rhythm with the new time zone.
As an Argentinian, I don't have the heart to tell him what a rough time he's gonna have trying to get a refund for expensive tech. Even if he gets the money back, it's prolly gonna be worth less that it did when he bought the thing. The mic is a Shure SM7B, right?
Of course it's a meme to poop on the bad game play casters, but t90 is deep into the top 100, maybe top 50. Laugh with him all we want, he's REALLY good
How would you feel about a BO21 against the two highest ranked tourney players at the end of the year? A bit like the invitational at the end of the tennis year.
