Bobby, Thank you for your videos on raising rabbits. I am getting all set up to start raising meat rabbits for my family and have used your videos as a my go to. I have learned so much from you since your videos are very user friendly and easy to understand. One request I do have is if you would consider making a video explaining all about record keeping which I think is very important . If you would show what type of record keeping system that you in place, along with what information you list about the rabbits since things can get a very confusing very fast when breeding of multiple rabbits start. I just feel good record keeping will keep me on track so I can make the best choices for the rabbits. Again, Thank You for your amazing videos!🙏 Poppy

if you don't have a rubber band just lift the tail in place with your thumb. My old male 6 years i think got 2 does pregnant like this and i got 6 babies he a small boy (he either a polish broken or Netherland rabbit that is on the bigger side )i think one of my female is a tan probably not pure the other one kind of look like a cotton tail but her face is larger more square .at the end of it i don't really care what breed they are(probably all taste the same) i live in an apartment i dont want to deal with big meat rabbit since I'm not a very strong women .i been scratch before too ,i don't want to fight them off while i pick them up...just my experience opinion with my situation .i think i will try the elastic too i must have some laying around for next time.

It really could be a number of things but Just check her over and make sure she's 100% healthy no issues be sure to check her vent color when you see a red swollen look this is a great time to reintroduce them.

Took her back the next day and she wanted nothing to do with the buck, so I figured it was successful.. 32 days later no kits, Everyone talk about a fall off equals a successful mating. Hi Bobby I have an urgent question. My doe got pregnant 6 weeks ago, gave birth 18 days ago to a healthy litter of 5kits. She has not been in contact with a male, yet I can see and feel babies moving around and feel quite big in size. Could one of the male kits have gotten her pregnant? Or could she have gotten pregnant in both uterine horns and be possibly holding off delivering the second litter. ?? If so is this normal and safe?? Kind regards
@TheRabbitryCenter
@TheRabbitryCenter Год назад
It's not normal and it isn't safe either. You could be feeling manure. It Could be a few possibilities. Rabbits don't sexually mature until approximately 14 weeks so they didn't impregnate her. she could be resorbing some embryos that didn't get delivered. Rest assured If she's nursing and eating she should be just fine.

I have a particularly stubborn doe whose tail we manage to lift, but she tucks her hips too, making it nearly impossible for my boys. She's only ever given one fall off, and no babies. My sister wants to try making some kind of platform to prop her back feet into. Thoughts on that?
@missmarjolein92

@@missmarjolein92 that's really up to you. I could have culled this one months ago, but she has a good personality and PERFECT fur that I want to perpetuate. Even when she's mad, she only kicks, no biting, so I really want babies from her.
@TheRabbitryCenter
@TheRabbitryCenter Год назад
Building a platform really isn't necessary you just need a flat table or you can even use a cage like we did lay down some carpet or matting I have my hand under their belly slid back towards the vulva I will even use my thumb and index finger to put it into position for the buck you may need to move him -you may need to move her just keep at it just like in the video reposition until he falls off
@missmarjolein92

As someone with long hair, rubberbands hurt. They pull out hair by the roots. Have you tried hair bungies? They will stretch wide. They also tend to not entangle or pull out the hair, so painless to use. Thanks for your informative videos. 🐇 🐇 🐇
@TheRabbitryCenter
@TheRabbitryCenter Год назад
Thank you very much for sharing your insight I'll try to locate a hair tie big enough to slide over my New Zealand's. If you can't find a big hair tie Although the rubber band may be uncomfortable momentarily it keeps them still and compared to all the unsuccessful breeding attempts where the buck is repeatedly biting her I bet she'd still choose the rubber band over that. Thanks for watching!

I’ve used other hair bands. Doesn’t work. The rubber keeps the tail up with friction. I’ve never had a pain response from any of my girls, never tried to bite the band off. Their fur is so dense any hair pulled doesn’t hurt.

You can breed again 8-10 hours after the first breeding 1 week later you can test breed to see how she acts. If she lifts add that date to your calendar as well. Just in case your rabbit doesn't kindle on the first date. You'll be ready 32 days from the test breeding date

She never would lift her tail or if she come out she'd tuck her tail. Gave her 3 breeding seasons but finally gave up. Thanks for info. I've read forced breeding only works 10% of time. What's your response to percentage?
@TheRabbitryCenter
@TheRabbitryCenter Год назад
Try not to beat yourself up. So many folks cull rabbits that never got started. Success greatly depends on folks doing it correctly. The rabbit in the video will absolutely have a litter. Most likely won't need a table breeding again either. When the kits are 4 weeks old I'll rebreed her. Mama rabbits almost always lift around this time regardless of short daylight or time of year. Best of luck with your future breedings

@TheRabbitryCenter Год назад
I'd try for two fall offs. Try again 8-10 hours later when the egg follicles are rupturing. It's a terrific time to rebreed Mark the calendar, regardless if you get a lift on the second try You shouldn't have to continue to table breed after getting them started. Once the kits are 4 weeks old remove mama for a rebreeding she should lift on her own at this point. Don't wait too long or you may get stubborn behavior repeated.

Unfortunately no matter how sweet a buck is if he won't breed he's no good to a Rabbitry production. He's lost his love for breeding and it's been replaced with eating. Cut his food back to no more than 2/3 of a cup of pellet until he starts to produce fall offs. If things don't change replace him or re-purpose him as a pet. Best of luck!

I am new to the meat rabbit world and have a question. I bought 3 does and 1 buck at the end of July. New Zealands and Californians. The buck was born 4.14.22 and the 3 does 5.7.22. The lady I bought from told me the does would be ready to breed in August...... needless to say.. they weren't. So now, they are just a few days short of 6 month and I still am not having any luck. When i put them in with the buck they just run in circles until the poor guy eventually just finds a corner to lie down and rest in. And, if by chance he is allowed close enough, he manages to mount her head. 🫤 I know I have 3 unproven does and 1 unproven buck. I guess I just want someone to assure me that eventually we will see a litter of rabbits. Or, do I need a proven buck? 🤔 Just feeling a little frustrated. Thanks for your help.
