Out of control collector shows off some of her vintage toy and table looms. The weaver is my mom who's now in her 80's. She started with cane chairs in the 70's, the materials made basketry a natural next step. Her first loom brought out her abilities as a colorist. A real pride, her art baskets incorporating found objects and natural materials have taken numerous awards in regional exhibitions. • random weave BASKETRY ...

Aren't these interesting! Ralph likes them too, I see. I loved seeing all these looms and hearing your mom talk about them. It sounds like your mom likes to rescue and fix old things like the looms, chairs with woven seats and baskets to put them in perfect usable order. She appreciates their value and potential. Very cool! jw

Yes, Judy, you got it. To the EXREME. 6 sewing machines, she didn't count the TREADLE because she's never used it. Doesn't spin but 3 spinning wheels. Didn't show the table loom she always uses or the floor looms that she's used 3 of the 4. There could be more, I don't know. It's all too EXTEREM. Special thanks for the comment today. Grandma always has biscuits for Ralph.

@@pottersjournal I only have 5 sewing machines. I learned on a treadle when I was about 9 years old. I bet your mom learned on one too. My oldest one is hand-cranked. No looms. Your mom could open a museum! I look forward to seeing her floor looms and spinning wheels! Cheers!

This really looks like atime travel. And it's so charming and relaxing to see these things from a past that seems so far now.

It would be great to travel with you. Uzbekistan or Myanmar were my favorites. USA St Augustine was not bad either, we were almost there the same day.

I wouldn't even attempt to set one up. But I did take a class with a local spinner weaver. Kay Thomas. I just trough the shuttle back and forth also wove in pine branches, wires and plastic bags to make a wall hanging.

@@pottersjournal we used them in secondary school, I hated that class so spent the lesson hiding under the stage or storage shed at the top of the field, they are clever tools though and I love your mum's passion and seeing them, thank you.
