Table partitioning in sql server - 1 

Imagine you have a #table with billion of records. It would be really difficult to manage and query such a large amount of data. #Partitioning is a database process, introduced in #SQL Server 2005, where these #tables and #indexes are divided into smaller parts or technically a single table is spread over multiple partitions so that the queries against these tables finishes quickly.
