In this video I restore a 28 years old sliding table saw. The SCM Minimax SC3. Check description below for link to how I built a mobile base for the same table saw.

I just bought this saw in a very similar condition. This video is amazing and super helpful. That base is top notch as well...nice work!

Cool video man. I sold my scmi si150 recently to a big fan of these older short stroke sliders. He had your exact one. As well as 4 others. I just added a full size one to my shop and am just getting it set up. My other couldn’t take a dado set so I really couldn’t use it in my shop.

Thanks for the video! I'm just starting my restoration on a minimax sc2w, hopefully it'll turn out as well as this.

Kevin, I just picked up a sc3 from 1995. Im going down the same path to restore. Your video was fantastic! I am missing the overhead collector and the cross cut fence. I am going to fab a collector an adapt a fence from a leguna slider. The belt for the scoring blade is missing. Do you happen to know the size or part number? Thank you!

Kevin, I'm currently repairing this same saw. Mine is missing the crosscut table and the belt for the riving knife is off. Would it be possible to get a picture of how your belt is routed? Also would it be possible to get more pictures of your crosscut table as well as measurements? I'm going to fabricate one. Thanks!

Thanks for a very good video. I am planning to build new kitchen cabinets in our old farmhouse and found your model table saw at a local auction house that is up for bids. I am wondering if I need a sliding table saw to do a great job and after I make our cabinets, can it be used like any other table saw ? I am also interested to know if parts are available for this saw. My initial thought is that it is a very good quality machine. The one I am looking at is partially disassembled and doesn’t show much wear. Thank you again for putting together a great video to share. Dave

You can use it as any other table saw. Just have to make sure that it cuts true and square once you set up the slide.

Really good job! I have this exact saw and have been struggling with the slide running out of square to the saw blade so I get a burn on the back of the cut. Any idea on best way to adjust the saw to alleviate this? Regards

Scrap that last comment. I realized the conical bearing wasn't cinched down tight and had some play in it. Took all of 2mins to figure it out. Thanks again!

I get some burn on the back of the cut also even if I'm square or as square as I can be , all my bearings are tight.

Hi Kevin, So as per my comment just posted on the mobile base video for the exact same saw arriving in a few days... was any other "tuneups" that did not make it into the final video? Im going to be following this video to make sure my SC3 is as accurate as yours. My cabinet saw (will be missed) was dialled in to almost perfect and having never used a panel saw in my workshop (only a few times at a friends place) Im excited and eager to understand everything about my tools.. I think its important not only for safer use but also to diagnose and resolve any faults quickly to reduce down time, head aches or even heart ache! But that's just my view... Thank you for uploading this and I hope you are able to point out any crucial areas someone like me could overlook

After using mine for a while now I could point out that the fence on the sliding table is a bit tricky, the whole zero out if you remove it or even if u move it it is not that accurate to go back to the same position and it tends to move out of position while you're using the saw. I'm working on a solution for that .Also don't count on the miter gauge plate for angles, once you zero yours out you will see how off they are. I want to move my plate to at least be close. If you have any questions let me know.

Thank you for the helpful video. I recently purchased one of the same vintage as yours. Do you have any idea where to obtain a manual for it?

This video is very helpful! I just bought this exact same saw used. No manual though. Could we exchange contact info? I'd love to get a scanned copy or cell phone pictures of the manual. Thanks!
