I have followed multiple masters of tableau but no one is able break down and explain things so easily like you. You are truly amazing!! Loved your teaching style . I think you should seriously think about making a comprehensive Bootcamp on tableau! I will be the first one to buy it. Great stuff!!! BTW, any books you can recommend on Tableau?
I truly appreciate your comment and feedback, RV, thank you :) .. Thank you as well for the suggestion. I am in the planning stages of some Tableau courses, but also want to make sure I can keep adding content to this channel . Thank you, again, for expressing your support. For books, the one book that I have staple on my desk (or Kindle) is Joshua Milligan's Learning Tableau series. I like how how comprehensive his books are, and his mastery of the finer details of Tableau (for example data densification) shines through. * I would like to recommend my book, but mine is way, way, way outdated :) ... perhaps I it's time to overhaul and create a new one 😀
@@sqlbelle Hi Mam so pleased to go through your content and in complete aww with your explanation regarding tableau intricacies. Please let me know how to get in touch with you over an email or any other mode of communication...
@@sqlbelle what is this ... I wasted a lot of hours on various videos, but this one is crystal clear, pls pls launch a course on udemy on tableau, your videos are excellent
Thank you so much for your note Etienne! Knowing there are a lot of fantastic resources out there, I wanted this to be able to provide additional value. Thank you for watching!
Hello Huy - thank you so much for the very kind comment, I appreciate it. I am happy you found the video helpful :) Take care, and thank you again for your support!
This was one of the best videos I have seen on Tableau teaching. Others just talk lot of waffle and talk and talk and talk for ages before coming to the point. You get right to the point straightaway.
I can't thank you enough for taking the effort and time to create this video, your explanation is very clean and easy to understand, appreciate that you walked us through a real example instead of just glossing over the terms.
Thank You so MUCH for this. I'm running on circles for the last 2-3 days trying to understand "What hell was going on with my calculations" and FINALLY I found someone that goes beyond knowing - You really know to teach! I'm so glad to found your video - serious - You have no IDEA how it was helpful. Thank You so much - I had watched 20+ hours of tableau videos regarding other subjects, but always I need to watch like 6-10 videos on each problem to find a mediocre one. I will watch your full Channel after this video - You're a great teacher!!! Thank you and congrats for the content - It's AMAZING.
Very good explanation. Very "granular" !!!!! You're a good teacher, very clear and thorough, and "easy to digest". Best explanation I've run across on the web. And all the important "tidbits" to expand you understating, like "scalar", "ATTR", how the order of operations/pipeline affects when to use FIXED vs. Exclude. All these little things help you get your head around LOD in a more comprehensive way. This is the LOD video I'll share with others. Thanks!!!!
Thank you for your note Doug, I am happy to hear you found it useful! :) It took me a while to get my head around LODs as well, so this is kind of my journal too so I have something to go back to when I forget some of the tidbits :D
I came here because I've never seen my professor for my Data Science program recommend so vehemently that we go watch a video that explains something so well. He honestly based his whole lecture off of it and constantly mentioned how good it was. I was curious why, so I watched the whole thing - even though he covered a lot of the same things! You did such an amazing job that I seriously feel 10x more confident about LOD expressions now. Thank you so much!
This video should be in Tableau's official training list, the perfect start to understanding LOD so far. Appreciate your efforts to make it very simple.
I have watched many videos to understand LOD concepts including community videos made by Tableau team but didn't get understand the actual purpose and use of LOD's but this video made my day happy and boosts my confidence on these calculations. I can say my heartful thanks and requesting to make these kind of videos.
It was always a barrier in my mind about LODs .. how hard to understand.. but after watching your video.. now I am confident enough to write LOD expressions on my own... thank you so much
Thanks a lot! I was literally smashing my head over the wall as the official videos about LOD aren't very good at explaining this concept. You have done an amazing work! I highly appreciate it. :)
I would seriously suggest your channel to everybody who wants to master the Tableau. You are such wonderful teacher!! Very easy to grasp the functions of it.. Hats off to your effort!..Thanks alot!
What a wonderful and thoughtful comment. Thank you so much, Maha, for taking the time to share your comment. I appreciate it. I am happy to hear you found the video helpful!
I recently came across Tableau training videos you have posted and from then on I am a big fan of you, love the way way you teach concepts is such a clear and precise manner. A big salute to you and thanks a lot for creating extremely useful videos on Tableau.
I was very much frustrated after going to many renowned tutorial on LOD but they were so complex and ambiguous. I am very lucky that I found this video. This is called teaching a complex topic in simple words. thanks you ma'am
Hello Ayan, thank you for sharing your comment, and I am very happy to hear you found the video helpful. I've struggled with LODs as well and it's an ongoing journey, everyday I learn something new, find out about more use cases. I appreciate your time and support! :)
I have been working on tableau for more than 5 years now and have been using LOD , but was struggling to explain this to my team members, therefore thought to refer some notes, I went thru multiple channel but trust me your explanation is the best, you made it very simple.. I am going to copy your style to explain it to my team now :) THANK YOU SO MUCH for putting this together..
This was really helpful. I've watched similar videos before, but this was more helpful because you showed the text table "cheat sheets" to show which variables you need in the LOD calculation. Thank you!
Thank you Melinda! I am happy to hear you found the video helpful :) .. I use the cross-tab trick way too much, but sometimes it makes things much easier to check. Glad you found that trick helpful too.
This video is really good. I've been struggling with an LOD formula that I thought was working until I added some filters. I spent a couple hours trying to get it working when I finally came across this video. Within the first 15 minutes of your video I knew two ways to fix my problem, but most importantly I knew WHY my formula wasn't working and why the other approaches would work.
Thank you for your note Mike! I am happy to hear it was helpful in clarifying how certain formula could work, and how some wouldn't (and it's not because of the actual syntax). I think there is more to unpack with LODs. I have a few more in my planned videos for the year - hope you will find those useful as well when they're published. Thank you again for leaving a comment 😀
Thank you so much for your note - very much appreciate it! Happy to hear you have found it useful! :) ... I hope you will find other videos in the channel useful as well. The next one (on parameters) is in the works, and schedule to publish tomorrow :)
I am currently taking a course for tableau, yet I had to listen to your video to really understand the topic. Thank you so much for helping with minute details in order to get the subject.
thanks very much! LOD greatly explained! You are really e wonderful teacher, clear in the concept, perfect english, patient, great visual capacity. thanks so much
# Sincere thanks to you for making such a deep down video "Granular 😊 Level". Which is very helpful for a transitioning Candidate like me. # Here comes sqlbelle - An authentic Source and a Hope for a learner like me. 😊 # Thank You 😊🙏
I agree that this is the best explanation have come across. So many are too broad and don't provide good examples. I love the tip of creating a cheat sheet in order easily map out the coding of the expression.
Awesome!!! In the 30 minutes video, you made me understand the LODs better than any other instructor of MOOC or virtual training courses. My suggestion is -PLEASE develop a “scenario/project-based Tableau training” and it will be super successful. Basically, you need to develop a complicated Tableau dashboard’s use case that uses the LODs, table calculations, most commonly used date calculations (like MTD, YTD etc), parameters, containers, Show/hide filters, best practices of dashboard, etc. As of now, no instructor or the platform got this kind of Tableau course. Even though Coursera got the Tableau projects, they are very simple and intended for very beginners. Thank you so much for all of your videos.
Thanks for this video. It has taken me a while to understand LOD but the penny has finally dropped! I really like the idea of using the check sheets as a starting point. Subscribed. 😊
Truly informative!! I really like your approach of explaining technical jargons in a contextual manner for better understanding of Tableau. Really appreciate your efforts. Hope you keep going like this!!! Thank you!!!
Thank you so much, your explanation is very very beautiful, simple, and perfect details. Also, you make us see those details in their places to understand it easily.🌹🌹🤩🤩🤩🤩
This is really a great way to explain the Level of details with the most common datasource so anyone can replicate it. Thank a lot keep up the great work. you deserve a million subscribers , hopefully soon. 👍
This is the Best Explanation of LOD i have ever seen. In future when i teach Tableau to others I am gonna take reference from this lecture only.Saving this video in my playlist. 💖💖
after seeing this video I could say that --- if a person still doesn't know how LOD works, no person in the world can make him explain... it's just fabulous... 🤩
