KDM isn't really an RPG. There are elements of an RPG, but these elements aren't focused into individual Survivors, but the Settlement as a whole. The game typically has short settlement phases in the early years and longer fights; but as the campaign progresses the Settlement Phase begins to become much more important and, consequently, a good bit longer as discussion and decisions and choices are made.You'll also have to give it some time to develop. This is literally a story about people waking up in a nightmare with no idea what is going on. You are purposefully kept in the dark about the world in the game, and gradually information becomes available...perhaps. A lot of the story and lore behind KDM are actually not in the game at all, but in the KDM Webstore. Whenever new figurines are produced and put up on the store, there is usually an accompanied blurb about some of the lore behind the figure. This, for instance, is why fans of KDM realize what the Watcher (the final boss of 1.3 KDM) is and who he actually serves. That info is not in the game itself, which fits the theme: you, as a mortal, know nothing, and must try to survive in a world where everything is stacked against you.
