This would be a great episode. From decor as well as workflow perspective. I am trying to ditch digital ‘stuff’ where possible, in favor of a more analog space around me, in my office in particular.
I always like Preston's videos. Maybe it's the topics, maybe it's his relaxed presentation style, maybe it's his soothing voice, maybe it's the puns; I'm not sure. Anyway, thank you, Preston. You're a big part of the GG team, at least to me.
Surprised you didn’t mention globes. I have a large inherited globe with really interesting country names and borders in my living room, a smaller, newer one in my bedroom and in my office, a pair of bookends featuring a globe the size of a baseball on each. I find them fascinating and have always wanted a huge floor-standing globe like the ones I’ve seen in so many classic movies.
My home is like from a scene out of Sherlock Holmes, interesting objects, curiosity cabinet, skulls, books, pipes, mantel clock, wall clocks and paintings. And of course a Maltese falcon... I love my home.
This was a great episode! Love the Maltese Falcon reference. Can you guys do an episode on ‘working desk aesthetics’. Not sure what that would exactly cover, but maybe something along the lines of how men of earlier times would have arranged their desks and work areas. How did they order their day in general? How did they track priorities?
Plants (at least some) are functional, they can help with health, now by that I mean physical though it can also help mentally but so can just living in a nice space. Aloe Vera is a great example, it's fantastic as an air purifier and can help with things like mosquito bites or rashes from stuff like poison ivy.
Excellent video. We enjoy leaving out puzzles - on side tables or sofa tables. Guests seem to enjoy walking by and adding a piece or two…. It’s interactive art that stores away well and can change with the seasons. 👍🏻
I would genuinely be interested in a video outlining how to set an elegant table. I have books on this topic, but I love your channel and would really like to see a video. Especially if you can have an expert explain the different pieces (i.e., escargot forks and other less well-known items). I see other posters are leaning towards an office desk video, so maybe keep "setting a dining table" in mind for a future video after the office desk.
Point: Great editing, script/natural explanation, and dip into meta. History: I’ve read GQ since 13. My own exploration into editing, story, interior design and currently do upholstery… so I enjoyed fm many perspectives. I’ve mentored many in dress, to which they reported joy. Specifically enjoyed for this video: Cut away; puns; and keeping it interesting as I’ve been enjoying the channel for three months, this is a shift. Nine puns were dropped while I typed… sooooooo… as much as it was distracting and raised an eyebrow, it was appreciated. Congrats to all. Others, when it’s time, will appreciate.
Thrift is the best option for decor, as for clothes, at least in my experience. With how willing some are to throw "old stuff" away, and perhaps a bit of iconoclasm, there's always interesting second-hand finds if one looks closely enough.

I would personally love a look at modern furniture and options within the marketplace to acquire a level of guaranteed high quality. Gimme a desk that doesn't fall apart any day of the week!

I've just started my first ever desk job maybe a week ago and was wondering how I could make my desk look better. I immediately thought of GG for advice, would really appreciate an episode on work desk decor
finding a local artist who sells nice framed prints can make for nice conversation pieces in your rooms. my living room is decorated along a naval theme with our paintings, save for one very nice painting of a dog.

I do love my Made in USA walnut clock called a last year numismatic clock as it has a Kennedy half dollar at 12&6, quarters at 3&9 and dimes in between, alternating obverse and reverses
