This had to be a TON of work for one guy. You deserve serious praise, and you have mine.

I had this game when I was a kid back in the 80's. It quit working years ago but I still have it stored on a shelf in my garage. I can't thank you enough for making this! I've been playing it for the past 2 1/2 hours and am loving it. Brings back so many great memories with my brother and friends. Awesomeness!!!

This is my favorite TTS workshop game adaptation. Extraordinarily well done. This was one of my favorite board games as a young kid, it was tons of fun rediscovering it. Thanks!

Awesome job on recreating this brilliant game... the sound effects just bring all the memories back, and so good to see you have kept the infuriating RNG in the game... awesome work, and much respect.

Five years later! And I've done a massive update to the RNG after getting my hands on the source code. See my deep dive at: boardgamegeek.com/thread/1087086/anyone-know-chance-event-happening

So cool! There was a little website that had a simulation of this about nine ten years ago. I stayed up all night one night trying to beat it. When I was a kid my next door neighbor Mike thomas had it. We got part way through a game and it was interrupted. Next time i was over there we went to play and the batteries were dead. Same thing next several times. I never did play it through! I was obsessed with it though. It was the first time I heard the words haggle and citadel. I always thought citadel was the coolest word. For years, every time I saw the citadel college football scores on TV I thought of this game. The sound effects and illustrations in this game are iconic.

Very freakin' cool. That tower and the backlight looks great! Looks just like I remember as a kid, just need the character pieces to be the 4 different Knight models now.

Oh wow, this is great! They made simulator. I went through several RU-vid videos before finding this one today. Great to finally see the dragon hit by the sword. Still haven't seen the pegasus but I could've missed it skipping through the video. Only thing is the characters are replaced with little color pawn like pieces and a change to the info display because of this and the score card board you put the tabs into is different. All the sounds are great. Maybe for nostalgic purposes they should even have had the start test where it runs through the 3 lights to make sure they're working. Thanks for putting this up! Ah! Just saw the pegasus at 16:55. Yay!!

This is an incredible reproduction. Amazing work! My parents bought the game for me in 1982 and I played it constantly. Sadly ended up selling it at a yard sale in 1987, but bought a near-mint fully working copy from eBay last month. Please don't ask me how much it cost. It's a bit embarrassing. I was surprised you scored so highly at the end of your second game. Whenever I'd try to assault the tower on L1 with that many Warriors, I'd always get a 00.

God I remember this game! A couple of friends of mine (two brothers) owned it, and we played it a lot for a while. It had so much atmosphere! (We always played it at night.) I vaguely remember it being kind of creepy. I esp. remember the artwork on the panels. Incredible job of re-making this!

Gold Key picture should be on top, brass in the bottom. Fun game.
@Orlor

You did a very good job on this. Really bought back some memories. My only issue was the multiplayer part. It was a little confusing. I kept on pushing the No / End button to end my turn and then hitting End Turn on TTS for the next player. Unfortunately, when you do that, the game just goes back to the first player. It took me about 20 minutes to figure out that you had to hit End Turn first and then have the next player push the No / End button on the tower to end the previous player's turn.

Very cool. I loved Dark Tower. Many hours played with family. Instead of pawns make some miniature figurines. Also why is the view tilted or your seated to the side?

Say, is there a way to HIDE the top and side bars of the window? They are not needed to play and the game would look less cluttered without those toolbars showing.. Anyone know?

I have another question, how are the pictures setup on the carousels ? I looked around for them, but couldn't get it complete. For example, what is on the top reel ? I pretty sure it's warriors, scout, g. Key, scepter. That's all i got. Update: Nevermind, i figured it out
@gazoxtahagen
@gazoxtahagen Год назад
I did mix up the Gold and Brass keys, much to my chagrin, and fixing it now would require completely rebuilding the Unity AssetBundle. Mea culpa. But otherwise my reel layout should be accurate.

This is an amazing recreation thank you. I am having trouble with getting 'hotseat' in TableTop Simulator to work though. I can't get 'hotseat' style to work for this game. When I start a new game and select to play 'hotseat' style so we can all use one computer. Player 1 can start the game and see the tower, but when player 1 ends their turn and it switches to player 2, a black box/blocker appears in front of the tower and I can't see what is happening. -As player 1 I hit 'end turn' on the tower. Then hit 'end turn' in Tabletop Simulator. So Tabletop says it is player 2's turn. But the black blocker is still in place and I can't see what the tower says. Am I missing a step?
@MrSoiree
@MrSoiree 5 лет назад
I got it to work by click 'end turn' for TableTop Simulator first, then when it was on player 2's turn I click 'end turn' on the tower itself. Then the black blocker does not appear.
@gazoxtahagen
@gazoxtahagen 5 лет назад
@@MrSoiree One thing you can try is to change the seat before clicking the "End" button on the Tower. For example, suppose you have two players, Red and Blue. When Red takes a move, the Tower will wait for the End button to be pressed on the Tower. Click on "Change Color" and select the Blue seat. Once the table is reoriented, press End button on the Tower, and then it will be Blue's turn. The downside is that this is essentially two simultaneous solo games being played synchronously, which means things like Curse will not work (the game will always think there's one player). But it should get you close! I really haven't tried using TTS's built-in End Turn function. I will experiment.

It was late 81' actually. I remember when it came out. If it says 87 it must have been a misprint or something.

What is the lowest price you can haggle down to ? Lets say for a warrior ?
@gazoxtahagen
@gazoxtahagen Год назад
Hello! So you might be interested in this thread on BoardGameGeek: boardgamegeek.com/thread/1087086/anyone-know-chance-event-happening ...in which I get my hands on the actual original assembly code itself, and pour through it in real time, both on paper and in an emulator. It turns out a lot of my assumptions/memories were incorrect, and that certainly includes the Bazaar logic. For example, I assumed the Haggle logic was something like a 48% success, when it's really 68.75% for the first Haggle of a turn, and 50/50 for every Haggle after that. But to answer your specific question: after examining the code, and brute-forcing Haggles in the MAME emulator, it turns out the answer is 1. If you think you can get lucky on coin flips, you can haggle anything in the Bazaar all the way down to 1. 0 is the only automatic Bazaar Closed value. Which kind of makes sense: the memory of the unit is way way too small to store all of the minimum Haggle values for all of the items, and the code allocation size doesn't allow for all of the if..then..else routines you'd need to handle it there instead. Which really surprised me! I assumed that the minimum haggle value was the lowest end of the random initial bid (for example, the opening bid on a Warrior is somewhere between 5 and 8, so I assumed any bid below 5 was an auto-Closed). Wrong, it turns out! Haggle away!
