Welcome to Tabriz! Join us on a short walk through the vibrant streets as we visit the Constitution House of Tabriz, also known as Khaneh Mashrouteh.
Located on the west side of the Grand Bazaar, this beautiful Qajarid building, commissioned by Haj Mehdi Kuzehkonani in 1868, played a crucial role in Iran's early 20th-century Constitutional Movement. Tabriz, the city where the movement's first flames ignited, saw this house transform into a hub for revolutionaries and clergy, including notable figures like Sattar Khan, Seqat al-Islam Tabrizi, and Baqer Khan.
Today, the Constitution House stands as a museum, offering a glimpse into a pivotal period in Iranian history. As you wander through its elegant galleries and courtyards, you'll encounter original stained glass orosis, bronze statues, and richly decorated rooms that tell the story of a nation's fight for democracy.
Join us as we explore the Constitution House of Tabriz, a place where history comes alive and the spirit of the revolution endures.

The building in the center of the Shah Goli lake dates only to the 1960s, when the greedy mayor of Tabriz had the old Safavid palace of king Ismail I, knocked down to build this kitschy new building and get kickback money from its construciton. The lake itself is Sassanian, and belongs to the Anahita Temple (also seen in Kirmanshah/Taq Bustan, Takab, Firuzabad and Lahijan, among others)

Thank you for sharing that historical background🙏. It's unfortunate to hear about the loss of the original Safavid palace. The history of Shah Goli lake, dating back to the Sassanian era, is truly fascinating. The connection to the Anahita Temple adds another layer of historical significance to the site. Appreciate your insights!
